SRK and Gauri to shoot an ad together

Shah Rukh Khan has revealed that he is shooting for an advertisement with his wife Gauri, who usually likes to remain away from the spotlight.


"I am shooting an advert with Gauri for a fantastic furnishing brand called D decor, very nervous, hope it turns out well," Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page.


The duo has been happily married for the past 19 years. They have two children - Aryan and Suhana.

Saif Ali Khan sure is a devoted boyfriend to Kareena Kapoor. Kareena's shooting in London with Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar for 'Ra.One', and Saif just dropped by on the sets to spend time with her.


Karan Johar posted this picture of them on his Twitter page, with the caption 'The Glamorous Couple'. We agree! And then Saif, of the glam couple, got posing for pictures with SRK and KJo. These KJo put up with the caption 'Dostana'. Lots of bonding certainly happened on the sets!

Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan wish Uddhav Thackeray

Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment has placed an advertisement wishing Uddhav Thackeray the best on his birthday (July 27) in Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece.






Considering the war of words the two sides had in February, during the release of My Name Is Khan, the advertisement came as a surprise.


What is not clear is whether Shah Rukh authorised the advertisement or someone in the production house sent it without his knowledge. Incidentally, AB Corp placed an advertisement wishing Uddhav as well.

Aamir wants SRK to watch 'Peepli Live' (srkthedon.blogspot.com)

There used to be a time when Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan didn't exactly get along (Remember Aamir writing about having a dog named Shah Rukh, and that not going down too well with SRK?). Now things have changed, and it's possible that Karan Johar is the man for bringing about a proper patch-up between the two Khans.


Karan's always been very close to Shah Rukh, and he's been getting closer to Aamir. It sort of started with Aamir's nephew Imran being cast in KJo's 'I Hate Luv Storys' and then Aamir being the only non-cast member invited to the movie's success party. In turn, Aamir invited Karan to the music launch of his home production 'Peepli Live'.


Later, Aamir and Karan met up with Shah Rukh in London, where he's shooting for 'Ra.One'.


And now Aamir has invited Shah Rukh to the premiere of 'Peepli Live'. He said that SRK attended the 'Raavan' premiere, and that he'd definitely invite him for 'Peepli Live'. Now if only we saw a similar thawing and bonding between SRK and Salman too. Maybe Aamir could step in to bring them together.

Shahrukh's olive branch to Shiv Sena (srkthedon.blogspot.com)

He's sent birthday wishes to Uddhav Thackeray even after being targeted by the party.


Of all the greetings that Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray received on his 50th birthday today (July 27), one stood out - "best compliments" from none other than Shah Rukh Khan who had been targeted by the party this year.


The birthday wishes were conveyed not through a traditional greeting card, but in a half-page advertisement released in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna. It said, "With Best Compliments From...Red Chillies Entertainment", the film company owned by Shah Rukh.


Coming as it did just a few months after the Sena had launched an all-out campaign against the superstar, the impact of the ad (Page 20, left hand side) was not lost on either readers or Uddhav.


"I am accepting best wishes from everybody," is all that Uddhav chose to say when asked about the ad this afternoon.


The olive branch extended by Shah Rukh - in the form of the advertisement - comes nearly six months after the Sena had launched an all-out campaign against the superstar following the release of his blockbuster, 'My Name Is Khan', in February this year. The party was angry with him for speaking in favour of Pakistani cricketers for the Indian Premier League.


The issue had pitted the state government and the Shiv Sena against each other in a controversy that raged for nearly 10 days and prompted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to make a visit to Mumbai on Feb 5 and thumb the saffron party in its bastion.

Shahrukh's 'Ra.One' team spirit (srkthedon.blogspot.com)

Shah Rukh Khan, who's shooting for his sci-fi movie 'Ra.One' in London, is missing home badly. But he's making up for it with friends Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor for company. Kareena is, of course, his leading lady in the movie. And Karan is over on a visit just to meet up with SRK.


Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page, "Made Karan attend the shooting...he is too sweet...so excited to be part of film making & wishes me so well, its very touching."


And what's happening on the 'Ra.One' sets? Lots of action, of course. Shah Rukh added, "Have a few more cars to blow up..what a life...kars & kareena...Rains...shooting action & montages together. 2 units...location demands etc. Karan assisting us for a day. Hopefully we will make the schedule."


Then SRK got talking about the unlikely combo of Karan Johar and an action movie set. "Really sweet to see Karan on an action film shoot. Should blow the cars to Kal ho na ho music. Kajol in a guest role in the flying cars ha ha."


No Kajol there but SRK did post a pic of him and Kareena, something he'd been promising to do for a while. Kareena looks stunning as always, but SRK looks kinda tired, doesn't he? Must be a lot of sleepless nights, he's said that it's been long days at work. "Shooting double shifts on same film on an outdoor. Never done this before. One way to tire urself to avoid loneliness." We think Karan being there will change that fast enough.

Look who was spotted flashing hashis (Japanese chopsticks) at the Hakkasan restaurant in London on Friday night over sushi and sashimi...


Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. And, with them, the film industry’s most celebrated filmmaker, Karan Johar, and the Bollywood Badshah’s stylish wife, Gauri Khan. The foursome gave Indians dining at this Japanese restaurant paisa vasool for their meals.


Aamir is in London (then LA, NY, Dubai...) to promote Peepli Live, Shah Rukh is there shooting for his futuristic RA One with Kareena Kapoor, and Karan flew to the UK to spend 20 days with SRK and Gauri and also work on his own script.


What is interesting is that in the midst of all their independent work activities, the superstars found time to break bread together. Aamir invited Karan, SRK and Gauri to a private screening of Peepli Live. SRK didn’t make it but Karan saw the film. After pack-up SRK and Aamir went for dinner, though. Accompanied by Gauri and Karan. A fan of both Khans said, “There were some jokes being cracked over which SRK and Aamir were laughing a lot. Gauri seemed to enjoy herself watching these guys cracking up.”

Son Aryan Khan all set to be a superstar like father Shahrukh Khan (srkthedon.blogspot.com)

The B-town is abuzz with rumours that Aryan is all set to work with his superstar father Shah Rukh Khan. The filmdom is flooded with celebrity children following the footsteps of their parents and carrying forward their legacy. Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor etc are already ruling the industry. And the latest kid in town, Aryan, who made his big screen debut in Karan Johar`s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, seems to be working towards taking up the mantle of his father.


According to reports, a leading filmmaker has approached Shah Rukh Khan and requested him to let his son Aryan act in his movie. The movie is about the relationship of father-son duo. Shah Rukh would play the father trying to deal with the ordeals faced by his teenaged son.


The film would show gender gap and the differing perspective of the father and the son. Shah Rukh has yet to respond to the filmmaker’s suggestion.

Ahead of the release of his sci-fi film RA.One, Shah Rukh Khan will launch a line of toys for kids aged 8-15 years. The toys will be based on the likeness of SRK's and Arjun Rampal's characters.


A source reveals that King Khan wants to create a huge franchise around the film after its release. Director Anubhav Sinha and SRK have had meetings with a couple of toy manufacturing brands to take the idea forward.


Since the film caters to kids, the actor has also consulted Aryan and Suhana to give him ideas for the toys. "Aryan is a big superhero fan and he contributed his ideas on the film as well. Shah Rukh plans to go all out for the marketing of RA.One, making it a brand along the lines of Iron Man. There is also talk of a sequel if the film manages to score at the box-office."


In the past, Rakesh Roshan also brought out toys based on characters from Krrish when the film was a huge hit.

Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri will soon appear in a television commercial for a furnishing brand. This is the first time the star couple will be seen in an advertisement together. The advert will be directed by Sunhil Sippy.

Aamir is more powerful than Shahrukh

Aamir Khan has emerged as the most powerful man in Bollywood in the Filmfare power list for a second year running. And he has beaten Shah Rukh Khan for the third straight year in a row.


Aamir has had a blockbuster year with '3 Idiots' towards the end of 2009 and 'Ghajini' from late 2008 (that continued to wow the box office well into 2009). Comparatively, Shah Rukh's 'Billu' flopped and he had a guest appearance in another flop 'Dulha Mil Gaya'.


Third on the list was Rajkumar Hirani, the director of '3 Idiots', followed by A R Rahman (who picked up two Oscars for 'Slumdog Millionaire' in the course of 2009). On the number five spot was Karan Johar's Dharma Productions followed by Yashraj Films and Aamir Khan Productions.


Kareena Kapoor was number eight on the list , next came Hrithik Roshan, followed by Katrina Kaif on the number 10 spot.

Khans, Roshans bonding continues

The Gauri Khan-Sussanne Roshan bonding continues. And this time they were actually bonding at London’s Old Bond Street.


These two superstar wives were dressed in their designer best, and each of them was carrying enough bags to break a donkey’s back. Unfortunately there are no mules in London, so Gauri and Sussanne were lugging their own plastic sacks laden with the most expensive stuff that the London stores stock.


Hrithik, who is wrapping up his shoot in Spain, is expected to join Sussanne, Gauri and Shah Rukh in London any day now. The Khans and the Roshans are expected to party hard. This is the lifestyle of Bollywood’s rich and famous.

After a summer of under-performing blockbusters, Hollywood bosses might do well to look at the incredible success of India's longest-running film, still packing in cinema-goers after 15 years.



Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl: a classic recipe for box office bullion


Released in 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (The big hearted will take the bride) has become one of the most popular films of all time.


Having broken all records in terms of number of showings and box office takings, it is now in its 769th week at one of the main cinemas in Mumbai (Bombay), the beating heart of Bollywood.


And the film continues to play to a nearly full house over weekends at the 1,000-plus-seat Maratha Mandir cinema in the south of the city.


Spectators stream in in steady numbers for the matinee show of DDLJ - as it is popularly known - at the 52-year-old cinema.


The best seats cost just 20 rupees (42 US cents; 27 UK pence).


Manoj Desai, executive director of the cinema, says the movie has been a record-breaking success for multiple reasons.



The film catapulted Shahrukh Khan to Bollywood megastardom


"The film is perfect with lovely music and the best Bollywood pair," he says.


"Also, this theatre is in a strategic location where we get 40% viewing from people who are travelling into or out of Mumbai.


"This place is for masses, so the rates have been maintained for years. Most importantly the film is important because of its message of love with parents' permission."


For sheer box office staying power, the movie has even leap-frogged classics such as The Sound of Music and The Guns of Navarone, Mr Desai said.


'Magical'


It is a love story, where boy meets girl (both Indians living in London) on a trip to Europe.


But girl's marriage is already fixed to her father's friend's son in Punjab in India.

What follows is an entertaining drama careering between London and Punjab, and in the end, of course, the lovers get together - with the families' blessing.


The lead pair, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, became stars overnight.


The film catapulted Shahrukh Khan, now also known as King Khan, to the top league of stars and he was typecast as a "romantic hero" for years.


Cinema officials say nearly all seats are taken at weekends and the film sometimes does better than new releases.


The film is now run on a no-profit, no-loss basis for the theatre as well as for Yash Raj Films, producer of DDLJ.


Jagjivan Maru, the cinema's chief projectionist, who has been showing this movie since its release, says it is magical.


"I have seen this movie every day for the last 14 years. That is a record in itself. It is our job to show the film. However, I never get bored of DDLJ.


"It's like I am in a loving relationship with the film. I still love the last scene when Amrish Puri [who plays father of the actress] slaps Shahrukh Khan."

A story well told


Rishi, who had come to see the film, said: "I had seen this film earlier four to five times many years back. I also see it on TV once in while.



The laughed, they cried, they came back to see it again and again


"I dropped in with my friends. Maybe I still like the film because I first saw it in my college days and it really worked then. Most of my friends saw the film many times - for the love story, songs and the actors."


Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst says: "It is not about the records this film has set. Records will follow if there is content.


"This film has got everything right: music, actors, direction. The movie is still making decent collections despite it being shown on TV very often. It is a story well told."


The cinema officials plan to keep the film running as long as they can and have planned a big celebration in October 2010 to mark the full 15 years since its release.


Among other popular features of the movie is its catchphrase "Come, fall in love" - and the audience at Maratha Mandir seemed to have done just that with DDLJ.

Aamir, SRK or Sanjay? Who will host Bigg Boss 4?

After Amitabh Bachchan announced that he will be hosting the fourth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati? for Sony, the officials of Colors are busy trying to fill his place in the fourth season of Bigg Boss. The buzz in the industry is that their first choice is Aamir Khan, who is yet to host any show on television. However, Aamir has rejected their initial offer. The channel officials have now apparently raised their offer, hoping Aamir will agree.


Meanwhile, they have also made overtures to Shah Rukh Khan. But even if SRK does agree, it will cost Colors heavily, as they will have to remunerate him to break his contract with Star Plus and match his high fee for every episode he hosts.


Colors has also approached Sanjay Dutt, but if rumours are to be believed, Sanjay has refused the offer as he feels the remuneration is not worth the trouble.


Arshad Warsi and Shilpa Shetty have hosted the first two seasons of Bigg Boss respectively.

Shah Rukh Khan-starrer My Name Is Khan is being launched in DVD format in the US after a sensational theatrical release that set a new record of the biggest opening weekend for a Bollywood film in North America.

SRK and family were smitten with the 'gorgeous and gracious' popstar








The whole world is smitten with pop diva Shakira and so is our Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Describing her as "gorgeous and gracious", SRK says he was bowled over by her in South Africa during the just-concluded FIFA World Cup 2010.


"Gorgeous, gracious and absolutely heartwarming Shakira. (She) was so nice to the kids. We are (her) fans for life," Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page.


The actor even posted a casual picture as well as a family photograph with Shakira.


"...she was so humble and so real. That's why she is such a rockstar...said my name with a beautiful accent too. Have never been more excited to meet a rockstar...the wife and daughter adore her...so do the father and son," he added.

Guess who was spotted at a suburban theatre in Mumbai catching the latest Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz starrer? None other than Ajay Devgn and wife Kajol.


Ajay, being the doting husband that he is, took a pregnant Kajol to watch the action comedy 'Knight and Day'. "Kajol is a huge Tom Cruise fan and Ajay devotedly took wifey dearest to catch the flick," said a source.
