Salman Khan hosted a party last night to celebrate Arbaaz and Arpita's birthday



Salman Khan hosted a belated birthday bash last night at a suburban night club to celebrate his brother Arbaaz (August 4) and sister Arpita's (August 3) birthdays.


Says a source, "Salman is thrilled with the response to the Dabangg promo and was in a mood to party. He decided to have a combined bash to celebrate the response to the promos and his siblings' birthdays."


Every year, Salman throws a big bash for his younger sister Arpita. Last year it was at a five-star hotel near his house in Bandra but this time, the venue was a Juhu nightclub. The party was delayed by a few days as some of Arpita's close friends were not in town.


Adds the source, "Salman gives a free rein to Arpita and lets her decide everything from the menu to the venue and the guest list."


Those who attended the party included Farah Khan, Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Riteish Deshmukh and Dabangg heroine Sonakshi with her parents Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha. Aamir Khan left on Wednesday night for Australia to promote Peepli [Live] at the Melbourne film fest and couldn't attend.

Salman's 'best item girls' are...

Salman Khan, who has danced to the sizzling number 'Munni Badnaam' with his sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan in 'Dabangg', says apart from her only actress Shilpa Shetty can be counted among the best item girls in the industry.


"Shilpa Shetty is very good in item numbers," Salman told reporters on being asked which actress according to him gives competition to Malaika as far as item numbers are concerned.


Shilpa is popular for her sensuous moves in the song 'U.P., Bihar lootne', and 'Chhaiya chhaiya' girl Malaika has featured in many item songs like 'Hoth raseele', 'Kaal kaal', and 'Mahi ve'.


While it took a little while for Salman to answer, his younger brother Arbaaz, who is married to Malaika, flattered his wife by saying: "Malaika gives competition to herself."


The actors, along with the cast and crew of 'Dabangg', were in Delhi for the music launch of the film.


Salman maintained his habit of coming late and appeared with his team two and a half hours later than the scheduled time. However, he was energy personified as soon as he took to the stage.


The 44-year-old actor has always been known for his unique dance steps in all his films. In 'Dabangg' too, he has done some very catchy steps which are fast becoming a rage among youngsters.


But Salman gives little credit to his choreographer Farah Khan for his dance. "I have taken my steps from a doctor I once met in London. He had a different style of dancing, so I picked my belt step from him," he said.


"There is another step which I have picked from Arbaaz. It's his all-time favourite step and again there's one which is from my make-up man Raju," he added.


"My steps are a mix from all these people, and yes, there is one step by Farah Khan also. Out of four steps that she gave me, I picked one," Salman quipped.


'Dabangg', which is Arbaaz's first movie as a producer, has been directed by debutant Abhinav Kashyap, the younger brother of acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap.


The film is set in a small Uttar Pradesh town and has Salman in the role of a policeman. It is the launch vehicle for Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi, and is slated for a September release.

Are Deepika and Siddharth Mallya dating?

Salman Khan's joint party for his sister Arpita and brother Arbaaz's birthdays on August 5 saw a huge star turnout. And for Deepika Padukone, it was the party where she showed up with Siddharth Mallya, who seems now to officially be the new man in her life.


Deepika and Siddharth, the son of business tycoon Vijay Mallya, have been seen together many times this year. They were spotted together at Lakme Fashion Week (where Deepika walked the ramp), at several IPL matches (the Mallyas own Royal Challengers Bangalore team), and now by coming to Salman's party together, it looks like Deepika and Siddharth are no longer hiding the fact that they are a couple.


The two entered Salman's party together and stayed together through it. And Deepika seemed really happy with the company!


Also at Salman's party was his ex-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani, who's married to cricketer Mohd Azharuddin. Their marriage is said to be in trouble, because of Azhar's alleged affair with badminton player Jwala Gutta. Jwala has now filed for divorce from her husband Chetan Anand.


So what does this mean for Salman and Sangeeta? It's plain to see that the former couple is still very close. Sangeeta spent most of her time at the party with Salman and his family, and apparently didn't even speak to most other people. Will Salman-Sangeeta's relationship change in the future? Will try and match upto Shilpa, Big B: Salman Khan

Salman Khan, who will step into the shoes of the Bigg Boss 4 host said that he will try and match upto the standards set by previous hosts Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan.


"Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan have done a great job in the past as the hosts of the show. I really respect them for that and I will try to match upto them," Salman told reporters here.


"I will try to make the audience feel there is more fun outside the house than inside," he added.


Even though there was news that Salman will return to the small screen with the second season of the game show Dus Ka Dum, the actor has changed his plan and will be seen in Bigg Boss 4 to be aired on Colors.


When asked about the reason for this change, the actor said: "I had the contract to do the first season of Dus Ka Dum. That contract is over now. If they want me to return for the second season, I would do that but right now there are no such talks, so I took this up."


Also, the grapevine is rife that Salman's Bigg Boss will be aired at the same time as Amitabh's Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).


So what does he feel about the competition?


"There is no competition. We are two different personalities, we have different styles, so there is no comparison. I don't think I can host KBC the way he does," the actor said.


Bigg Boss is the Indian version of popular British reality show Big Brother. It has celebrity contestants locked in a house under the surveillance of multiple cameras for a period of three months without any contact with the outside world.

Salman gifts Arbaaz a customised Being Human watch

Arbaaz Khan turns 43 today. The Dabangg producer brought in his birthday last night along with brother Salman, sister Arpita, close friends and relatives. A source reveals that Salman gifted Arbaaz a customised Being Human watch with his initials engraved at the bottom.



The source says, "Salman had already decided beforehand that he'd be gifting Arbaaz a limited edition Being Human watch -- something that no one else would have.


Arbaaz has a huge collection of watches and Bhai wanted one personalised to his younger brother's needs. He got in touch with a watch engineer and asked him to customise the watch. Apart from having his initials engraved on the watch, Salman also made a special box for the ghadi."


Arpita's friends were also invited to the bash as she celebrated her birthday yesterday as well. "It was a joint party. Also Salman's thrilled with the response to the Dabangg promo as it's Arbaaz's first production."


When contacted Arbaaz confirms, "Yes, Salman gifted me a beautiful watch. I'm busy with post-production for most of the day. Later on, I will be spending some time with my family and loved ones."

Rush Hour 3 action director to train Salman

Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala have decided to get an action director from abroad to take the stunt sequences of their next film Kick to another level. And they have chosen Phillipe Guegan, who has directed the action sequences of films such as The Transporter, and Rush Hour 3, to work on the project. Phillipe has agreed to come down in September to train Salman in the necessary stunts. Both Salman and Sajid agreed on this step because they felt an international stunt director would be able to give Salman high-end stunts and consolidate his position as an action hero.


Kick is an adaptation of a Telugu action blockbuster.

Salman is new 'Bigg Boss'

After all the buzz that superstar Shah Rukh Khan is going to host the next season of 'Bigg Boss', it is now confirmed that his arch rival Salman Khan has been roped in to replace megastar Amitabh Bachchan for the fourth season of the popular reality show.


"Salman Khan has been finalised as the host of the next season. We will announce the development officially soon," a source from entertainment channel Colors said.


Earlier, grapevine was abuzz that either Shah Rukh or Akshay Kumar are being zeroed in on as the 'Bigg Boss 4' host since Amitabh gave a nod to the upcoming season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', to be aired on Sony. But now Salman's entry on the show will be officially announced at an event in Mumbai today (July 3) evening.


Considering that the channel has plans to launch the show in October, there might also be a clash with 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 4', the promos of which have already gone on air. 'KBC 4' goes on air October 11.


However, the source said: "We are not sure when exactly will the show go on air, but we plan to launch it in October for sure. The dates are still to be worked out."


'Bigg Boss' is the Indian version of popular British reality show 'Big Brother'. It has celebrity contestants locked in a house under the surveillance of multiple cameras for a period of three months without any contact with the outside world.


Its past three seasons were hosted by Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh, respectively.


Salman later posted on his Twitter page, "Doing bigg bossssssssssssssssssssssss! boss."

Salman sets an example by donating blood at a camp in Maldives


Salman Khan inaugurated the blood donation camp at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Maldives and even donated blood. His initiative was part of the annual India-Maldives friendship festival 2010.

President Mohamed Nasheed, the First Lady Laila Ali Abdulla, a few ministers and senior officials of the government attended the blood donation ceremony.


After the camp, Sallu judged a children's painting exhibition at the Iskandhar School. He requested the media to remain outside so he could enjoy his time with the kids. Apart from selecting the best paintings, he discussed painting with the kids. And on their request, he even sang a few songs and danced with them.


This isn't the first time the actor has been part of a charity programme in Maldives. In the past, he participated in the Medical Assistance Programme at Villingili Children's Home.

His latest film promos may be showing him as an angry, no-nonsense cop, but film buffs got to see Salman Khan in his super-chilled avatar recently.



The Bollywood hunk had dropped in to watch a Hollywood flick at a suburban theatre and though he made vain attempts to not draw any attention, Sallubhai’s presence did create a flutter among those present. And the star did not disappoint any of his fans either, as he posed with them for photographs and signed autographs for them. Salman Khan's ad for Chlormint chewing gum has not gone down well with the Shiv Sena. Activists from the Indian political party say that the TV ad featuring Salman ill-represent a cow, considered a sacred animal in Hinduism. The activiss burnt posters of Salman during a demonstration in Amritsar and demanded that the ad be taken off the air.


In the ad, Salman appears as a cowherd dressed in Rajasthani gear. A group of girls who come across him find it surprising that his cows have three horns instead of two. When they ask him about it, Salman asks the girls if they want ice-cream. He then feeds the cows Chlormint, after which he gets ice-cream instead of milk from them, and offers it to the girls.

Salman loses six-pack!

Imagine the agony Salman Khan had to go through when he was asked to lose his six-pack abs for Dabbang.



Putting him through this torture was his own brother, producer Arbaaz Khan. Salman, the shirtless, original macho man of Bollywood, is playing a Bihari cop in the film, and the paan-chewing cops of Bihar are nowhere near being that fit.


Sallu had to look the part so he went on a special diet, probably gave in to all his cravings and got rid of his super abs. The actor, who doesn’t miss his exercise routine, learned table tennis in a day to keep himself fit as he didn’t want to completely go from being all fab to all flab.

Asha Bhosle sure has a sharp way of putting things, just look at what she's said about Salman Khan.


The legendary singer posted on her Twitter page, "Salman Khan's wondering why Lindsay Lohan got 90 days jail 4 drunk driving? These Americans don't know how 2 treat their Stars!"


Wow! Salman hasn't responded to that but it is something to see someone from Bollywood bring up the drunk driving incident he was involved in.
