Salman's 'best item girls' are...

Salman Khan, who has danced to the sizzling number 'Munni Badnaam' with his sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan in 'Dabangg', says apart from her only actress Shilpa Shetty can be counted among the best item girls in the industry.

"Shilpa Shetty is very good in item numbers," Salman told reporters on being asked which actress according to him gives competition to Malaika as far as item numbers are concerned.

Shilpa is popular for her sensuous moves in the song 'U.P., Bihar lootne', and 'Chhaiya chhaiya' girl Malaika has featured in many item songs like 'Hoth raseele', 'Kaal kaal', and 'Mahi ve'.

While it took a little while for Salman to answer, his younger brother Arbaaz, who is married to Malaika, flattered his wife by saying: "Malaika gives competition to herself."

The actors, along with the cast and crew of 'Dabangg', were in Delhi for the music launch of the film.

Salman maintained his habit of coming late and appeared with his team two and a half hours later than the scheduled time. However, he was energy personified as soon as he took to the stage.

The 44-year-old actor has always been known for his unique dance steps in all his films. In 'Dabangg' too, he has done some very catchy steps which are fast becoming a rage among youngsters.

But Salman gives little credit to his choreographer Farah Khan for his dance. "I have taken my steps from a doctor I once met in London. He had a different style of dancing, so I picked my belt step from him," he said.

"There is another step which I have picked from Arbaaz. It's his all-time favourite step and again there's one which is from my make-up man Raju," he added.

"My steps are a mix from all these people, and yes, there is one step by Farah Khan also. Out of four steps that she gave me, I picked one," Salman quipped.

'Dabangg', which is Arbaaz's first movie as a producer, has been directed by debutant Abhinav Kashyap, the younger brother of acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap.

The film is set in a small Uttar Pradesh town and has Salman in the role of a policeman. It is the launch vehicle for Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi, and is slated for a September release.

I have been following her life and I think she is successful, smart and sincere in everything she has done.” Bebo seems to think Shilpa’s life has a dream-like quality and whether it is making international headlines through a reality show, or buying a stake in a cricket team, Shilpa has shown enterprise. “I would like to meet and get to know Shilpa and her husband Raj,” says Bebo.

Meet Shilpa 'Tigress Woods'

Shilpa Shetty is holidaying in Europe with hubby Raj Kundra and she's taking the time for lots of fun things that have been on her 'to do' list for a while.

Shilpa posted on her Twitter page today, "Took my 1st golf lesson 2day (always wantd 2)at Les Bordes, Europe's best golf course..Left my marks out there, yikes! Nearly killed a duck :("

The duck survived of course, and Shilpa emerged quite cheery from the golf lesson. She posted a picture of herself on the course, and wrote "Tigress Woods ;)"

Okay, we guess Shilpa is referring just to the golfing skills here, having blocked out other things that Tiger Woods has been in the news for.

Also, Shilpa will be enjoying another first in the romantic city. "Been 2 Paris many times bt hav never been up the Eiffel tower, alwys wantd 2 visit it with my husband (jus a dream)so Raj n me goin up tonite:)"

And who wouldn't like to have a slim body like Shahrukh's? Well, in order to get fit like the My Name is Khan star, just follow these... simple steps!

"Just so that u know..the only advice that works to get a six pack is the old age one...JUST EAT LESS !!! THATS IT!"

Sounds easy enough, but we're sure even SRK can't resist a good meal every now and then!

"then no carbs only protein...damn..finding pieces of chicken in a crowd of rice...and still feeling guilty that i ate biryani...sucked" Just what we thought; everyone needs to eat!

And one thing that doesn't work for Shahrukh is diet pills. In fact, they seem to have the reverse effect: "fat burners followed..hydroxy this...hydroxy that..started to feel fat eating so many tablets."

But in the end it looks like the slim actor doesn't diet at all: "no i dont diet..it was just to deter anyone using stuff that proclaims weight loss."

And if Shahrukh's advice seemed harsh at first, he ends on a high - and hungry - note as he tells everyone to eat what they wish! "sleep when u feel sleepy...eat what u wish...talk what makes u happy and just smile a lot...and of course love urself as u are."

Bipasha Basu has one of the fittest bodies and B-town so it's no wonder that she recently released a fitness DVD called Love Yourself. And as this star just joined Twitter she is taking the opportunity to share some of her best tips to stay in shape!

"Unhealthy snacking is equal to extra cals. So eat small healthy meals that will keep you goin thru the day n keep u really activ."

Sounds easy but what does Bips suggest we start our day with?

"fit, Ideal Breakfast oats/bran wth skim milk,4 egg whites in ny style, whole wheat toast, juice or cut fruits. yoghurt at times.yum!"

Sounds yummy indeed! Any last word of wisdom?

"Lve urself is abt respecting urself and liking evry bit of urself. Being confident in who u r and nt wanting to b a clone."

Shilpa Shetty is no ugly duckling herself and sure knows how to eat healthy and exercise the right way! She can't help but to share some of her wisdom on Twitter and here's what she has to say:

"Avoid chewing too much gum as synthenic sweetners like sorbitol hav been linked 2 several gastrointestinal ailments, causes bloating etc"

No chewing gum, check! So what should we eat according to the always svelte actress?

"Health tip:choose sweet potatos instead of normal potatos, since they r low in glycemic index.great pre or post work out snack. Todays health tip:must have enough Vitaman C once ure 30(esp women)fresh amla juice shot(available in supermarkets) or 2 oranges."

So fruits instead of heavy foods; sounds good! What else do we need to think about according to health guru Shilpa?

"Its not abt being on a perpetual Diet of Denial,Its abt the Lifestyle Choices u make every single day.. Make the Right choice."

Shilpa gets stuffed

She ate so much at a Japanese restaurant she had to loosen her belt

Diet and fitness conscious Shilpa Shetty hogged so much at Japanese restaurant Wasabi that she ended up loosening her trademark belt that she wears to keep her waistline in check.

"Ah! Had the most amazing meal. Love Wasabi at the Taj. Definitely the best Japanese food in India. Had to loosen my belt, ate so much! 45 minutes cardio tomorrow!" Shilpa posted on her Twitter page Tuesday.

Wasabi, which is on the first floor of the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, was among the many places which were gutted down during the 60-hour terror attacks Nov 26-28, 2008.

Ajmal Amir Kasab, the sole survivor of the 10 Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai, was pronounced guilty Monday. The 34-year-old says Kasab must get nothing less than the death penalty.

"Regarding Kasab if he escapes death penalty, then we must abolish capital punishment... For what other crime would you say is worse? Seriously! What is his reason that he was brainwashed too young? There is no excuse for terrorism.

"But got to compliment the system for speeding the process and giving Kasab more than a fair trial despite all proof and evidence," wrote Shilpa.

Shilpa defends brand IPL

And she definitely doesn't like team Rajasthan Royals being questioned

Shilpa Shetty is getting quite emotional about the Rajasthan Royals ownership issue. Yesterday Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Shashank Manohar said that Shilpa and her hubby Raj Kundra's names didn't figure in the IPL team's shareholding papers. And Shilpa tweeted furiously that Raj was a stake holder and she was the brand ambassador. But obviously there have ben more questions about the Rajasthan Royals franchise. And Shilpa doesn't seem to be having much fun tackling them.

She said earlier today, "Can't answer every1 queries(som very wierd). For the last time. Yes we r stake owners in RR, I am ALSO the brand ambassador. can't get into details."

Okay, Shilpa, we get your point, and we also get that the questions are getting to you. "If there r issues or qtns (questions) by BCCI, can be adressd directly to RR, Y does it hav to b done via the media!?" the star tweeted later.

She added, "No room for erronious commnts 2b made, Custodians of Cricket must not hamper d Brandvalue of this viable sport. RR Support all Bcci nd govt probe. Have always done things with integrity so when our credibility was qtnd (questioned) it hurt. Not anymore cause we hav done r bit. Truth wil prevail. SMILING:)"

Right you are, Shilpa, and we hope you'll keep smiling as the investigations progress!

Shilpa's luck by TV

Star who's judging 'Zara Nachke Dikha' says telly has always proven lucky for her

Actress Shilpa Shetty, who is soon to appear in a dance reality show 'Zara Nachke Dikha' to be aired on STAR Plus, admits that television shows have proven lucky for her and after marriage she wanted to do something which didn't take much of her time.

"Judging is always a huge responsibility and TV has always been something that has proven lucky for me," Shilpa told reporters.

"I am just married, and so I thought I should spend some time with my family. I wanted to do something that did not take much of my time and at the same time allowed me to have a great time," she added.

Shilpa has teamed up with actor Arshad Warsi and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant to judge the show.

"As you know, it's a battle of the sexes and we will try and not have any bias. I have always been very pro-women but I have also been very pro-talent. So if the person is talented, you can't help but appreciate," Shilpa said.

This is for the third time Shilpa is appearing on television after taking part in the British 'Celebrity Big Brother' TV show (2007) and hosting the second season of 'Bigg Boss' (2008).

"Well I really liked the concept and as you know that they are bringing it on a grander scale this year. Dancing is always something that I enjoyed. This is my third stint on television and every year it keeps getting better," she added.

Asked how different it would be from other dance reality shows, she said: "Every show is different from the other. The participants are celebrities and the show is dance oriented but the edge will be the battle between men and women, which is always great fun."

"That's what makes it different. We have got whole lot of dances. It would be more theatrical and cinematically it would be more interesting to watch," Shilpa said.

Bollywood's IPL owners in trouble

SRK's team office in Kolkata raided by income tax officials, Preity summoned by court

The Indian Premier League (IPL) scandal that has rocked the cricketing and Indian political world is now fast spreading to Bollywood. It has been alleged that IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has hidden stakes in teams owned by Shah Rukh Khan (Kolkata Knight Riders), Preity Zinta (Kings XI Punjab) and Shilpa Shetty (Rajasthan Royals. And today (April 21) the Kolkata offices of Shah Rukh's team were raided by income tax officials. The offices of the Cricket Association of Bengal were also raided.

Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, a court has summoned the promoters of Kings XI Punjab. Reportedly, the promoters have not shared details of their financial dealings and balance sheet with the Registrar of Companies.

While there has been no response from Shah Rukh on these developments, Preity had tweeted a few days ago, "Lalit Modi has ABSOLUTELY NO share in Kxip!" She had said earlier, "Media needs 2 b accountable 4 what comes out in press! Am shocked at some of d stories regarding KXIP! No gossip or rumour pls! only news!"

A probe into financial deals of the IPL was broad-based today with searches at offices of three of its event management and broadcast firms in Mumbai, even as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case to investigate foreign exchange violations by its franchisees.

Also, the income tax probe which started with the IPL Kochi franchise last Wednesday was widened with simultaneous searches in multiple cities.

The 10 franchisees under scrutiny are Kochi's Rendezvous Sports, Pune's Sahara group, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

Earlier in Mumbai, a team of over 50 officials of the Directorate of Income Tax Investigation started the search operations at the premises of Multi Screen Media, World Sports Group and Pat Magnarella Management in Bandra, Khar and Malad suburbs of north-west Mumbai in the morning.

Simultaneously, the ED Mumbai registered a case against "unknown persons" under the Foreign Exchange Management Act to probe unauthorized transfer of huge foreign funds without the permission of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The ED move was prompted by information that huge funds have found their way into the IPL from international tax havens. It would inquire into the root of the IPL finances from dubious sources, officials said.

Earlier called Sony Entertainment Television, Multi Screen Media has the telecast rights for the IPL T20 cricketing extravaganza for 10 years from 2008, while World Sports Group acquired the global media rights for IPL for 10 years for over $1.5 billion.

Pat Magnarella Management is a full-service management, branding, and marketing services company, which in the past specialised in the music business and later made a foray into sports as well, officials said.

In New Delhi, another investigative wing of the finance ministry, the Directorate of Enforcement, registered a preliminary case against the IPL and its franchisees to probe possible violations of foreign exchange rules and regulations.

The case was registered under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act in a bid to help the directorate's officers search the premises of suspected people, seize incriminating material and hold enquiries, officials said.

A probe by the tax department had first started with the Kochi franchise of IPL last Wednesday. A day after, officials from the income tax department visited various offices of the IPL in Mumbai and questioned its commissioner Lalit Modi.

Based on the documents collected, the tax probe was then extended to other cities as well, following which all the wings of the finance ministry were roped in for parallel investigations.

Finance ministry officials said their main concern was whether ill-gotten money stashed abroad was being brought back into the country, as also whether there was tax evasion by IPL and its franchisees.

The question of free equity to some directors of franchises is also being probed.

But the star's IPL team is still in fourth place on the points table

On Shilpa's star trail

She got a new sports car, wore a burqa, and had dinner with royalty

Shilpa Shetty has had an interesting couple of days. First, hubby Raj Kundra presented her with a cool sports car. It's blue (their IPL team Rajasthan Royals' team colour), and it's a Lamborghini! It seems Shilpa isn't too fond of cars, but Raj is, and wanted wifey to have a luxury car!

Next, Shilpa went to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan wearing a burqa. The trip was arranged by Yusuf Pathan, a member of her Rajasthan Royals team. And he provided the burka as well, so Shilpa could visit the famous dargah in relative anonymity, and not be mobbed while she was there.

Shilpa tweeted about going to the dargah, ""Visited the famous dargah Ajmer Sharif. Yusuf (Pathan) very sweetly arranged everything even the burkha...thank god I wore it."

But Shilpa was still recognised. She added later, "Thought we had fooled people but the word spread, it was manic but so glad we could visit. (I) have a lot of faith in Faith."

What was next on the cards for the star? Well, she and her IPL team will be attending a dinner hosted by Padmini Devi of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family.

"Enroute to Jaipur to attend a Rajasthan Royals team dinner hosted by the royal family her highness Maharani Padmini Devi, who I completely adore because she is so full of positive energy and showers me with so much love," Shilpa wrote on her blog.

Now we hear that Shilpa might be campaigning for British MP Keith Vaz in his election bid. She has known him from the time she won 'Celebrity Big Brother' in the UK in 2007.

Seems like all in a couple of days work, right Shilpa?

Shilpa's Royals power past Preity's Kings

Today's IPL match win means Shilpa's team is third in the points chart

Shilpa Shetty's IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals, had their first match on their home ground at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur today (April 7). And playing against Preity Zinta's team Kings XI Punjab, they won in style. Preity's team only scored 153/6, which Shilpa's team reached with five overs remaining in the match.

Earlier in the day, Shilpa had tweeted, "By the way, Prayers for RR can begin now:)". And post match, she added, "Hey U all ure prayers r bein heard:):)thanks sooo much.A convincing win 2day, gr8 2 b home(jaipur:) goin bak to Bbay with a smile on my face."

Shilpa was at the stadium with hubby Raj Kundra and sis Shamita. And she was wearing a sari today. Of course, the colour of the sari was blue, which is the shade of the Rajasthan Royals' jersey as well.

And what of Preity? Well, she wasn't at the stadium today because she was shooting in Mumbai. But her team just doesn't seem to be scoring enough wins. She's aware of it too, having tweeted pre-match that her team needs to rise on the points table. Think they'll score a dramatic turnaround? Would be fun to wathc for sure!
