Imran and Katrina teams up for Yashraj

Imran Khan has finally bagged his first film under the Yash Raj banner and will be seen romancing Katrina Kaif in the yet-to-be-titled film.


The film, a romantic comedy, is written and directed by debutant Ali Abbas Zafar and will be produced by Aditya Chopra. It is scheduled for a 2011 release and will go on the floor mid-September.


This is the first time Imran and Katrina will be acting together. Earlier, they'd been in talks to star in '7 Days in Paris' but that project never worked out.

Katrina to join John Abraham on Kaakha Kaakha

Dostana 2 being postponed to late- 2011 has given John Abraham free time to start shooting the Hindi remake of Kaakha Kaakha with director Nishikant Kamat.



The actor starts shooting for Kaakha Kaakha this week. His Dostana 2 leading lady Katrina Kaif finds herself with free time on her hands and might end up pairing with John in this film.


Producer Vipul Shah commends Tarun Mansukhani for his decision to postpone Dostana 2. "It's commendable that Tarun decided to wait until he was happy with his script. We were to start our remake of Kaakha Kaakha in April but we pushed it ahead as we were not happy with our script. We've now revamped Kaakha Kaakha."


Vipul says Johnny Boy's leading lady is yet to finalised. Here's where John's project stands to benefit further from the postponement of Dostana 2. Katrina Kaif, a dear friend to both John and Vipul Shah, is being asked to take over the leading lady's place in the project. And apparently KK is on. When contacted, Kat says the sudden postponement of Dostana 2 has left her dates diary disengaged. "Something else is being worked out," she offers evasively.


So if not Dostana 2, Kat will do the Kaakha Kaakha remake with John.

Kat to launch her sister

Katrina Kaif, who is Bollywood’s current Princess of Popcorn, is also a sharp business woman.


The actress has plans to float her own production house soon, and she is laying the ground for her younger sister Isabelle to join the ranks of Bollywood actresses as well.


Isabelle is likely to finish an acting course in New York later this year. And the grapevine says that Kat is already talking to some of her most trusted filmmakers about getting Isabelle the right break.


One rumour says that Isabelle will appear in a Farah Khan film that is set to go on the floors in 2011 alongside Salman Khan (who is a well-wisher of the Turquotte family).
However, it is also being said that it will be Karan Johar who is likely to give Isabelle a break in one of Dharma Productions’ forthcoming films.


Incidentally Isabelle is almost a replica of Kat with the same fair-complexion and rosy cheeks. The very attractive girl is said to be a tad shorter than Kat and her “good-looks” are generating a great amount of interest amongst the A-list filmmakers who are all on the lookout to launch a pretty face.

Katrina matadors in Spain

It is being said that Katrina Kaif is being wooed by the matadors in Spain.


Says our khabru from there, "Last week, while filming the bullfight for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in Pampelona, several matadors came to meet the actress and a couple of them even proposed to her.



They seemed quite smitten by Kat's charms and refused to leave till she met them.

Adult video is a fake, says Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is in yet another controversy with an adult video at the centre of it. Some months ago, there was a rumour going round that Katrina's sister Isabella had been in an adult video. It turned out that it was a lookalike. Now there's an adult video doing the rounds featuring a Katrina lookalike. And Kat's really mad about it.


She has said in a statement, "The video is disgusting and the girl clearly doesn't even look like me. There's no room for any speculation whatsoever. How can you even call her my lookalike? The girl's face is completely different! I think it's ridiculous to even talk about it."


When the Isabella story had surfaced, Katrina had been very upset and she and her mother had even said that they would take legal action against those who were involved with the video. Now that she's in such a situation herself, we think Katrina might just do that.

Katrina's item girl avatar revealed

We never thought we'd hear Katrina Kaif dancing to a song called 'Sheela Ki Jawani' (we kid you not!) but trust choregrapher and director Farah Khan to pull it off.


Farah's next 'Tees Maar Khan' will have heroine Kat giving Shakira a run for her money in this number. Think lots of belly dancing, for which Farah has even flown down one of the world’s most renowned trainers from Brazil.


Farah says about the song, “You will see Katrina in an all new avatar. She has never looked this hot.” So Katrina's going to be revealing her 'item number' side, and she's making sure she's in perfect shape for it.



It seems that Kat, who is currently shooting in Spain, is working hard on her physique and following to a special diet for the song.


Reveals a production source “Farah is known for creating iconic film songs. She revealed Shah Rukh Khan’s six packs in Dard-E-Disco and this time round she is going to show audiences Katrina's hot side."

“That’s because I don’t need to apply much make-up. I get done in a few minutes and besides the team that works on me is so good that I have fun all the time,” she said. Katrina, Deepika in SMS race!

The last time Bollywood beauties Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone crossed lines was over their common interest in Ranbir Kapoor.


Now that seems to have been relegated to the past. There is fresh reason for the girls to have cold vibes.

Salman wants Deepika Padukone for the remake of the South film Bodyguard



Buzz is that Atul Agnihotri's remake of the South flick Bodyguard with brother-in-law Salman Khan will star Deepika Padukone. Katrina Kaif was Atul's first choice but Sallu feels the Om Shanti Om girl is more apt for the role.


A source says, "Salman is keen on working with Deepika. He feels they will look good on screen. When Atul suggested Katrina's name, he shot it down saying the project needed a fresh pairing. He's watched the original and thought Deepika would fit the role perfectly."


Both Sallu and Dippy have had opportunities to work together in the past. The star wanted to work with her in Anees Bazmee's Ready, but talks fizzled out and Asin stepped in.


Salman and Kat were last seen together in Yuvvraaj (2008). Even though the film didn't work at the box-office, they had offers to work together. However, both chose not to work opposite each other. While Salman signed Zarine Khan for his home production Veer, Kat went on a signing spree with Ranbir Kapoor.


The source adds that the star is keen on repeating Zarine in Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick. "He's keen on signing new talent as opposed to working with the same faces."
Atul remained unavailable for comment.

Katrina reveals her special birthday wish

Katrina Kaif, who will turn 26 tomorrow (July 16), wanted to spend her birthday with her family in London but had to alter her plans to accommodate a shooting schedule for Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara' in Spain.


She took a break from the shoot in Spain to be with her family. But now the actress has to return to shoot in Pampolona, Spain, for Zoya's film today (July 15).


"Yes, I had planned well in advance to spend my birthday with my family in London. But some scenes for Zoya's film have been rescheduled and I've to go back on Thursday, a day ahead of my birthday, to Spain. Never mind. I'll be working on my birthday and that's the best way to bring in my birthday," said Katrina.


Looking at the brighter side, Katrina said: "My two youngest sister Isabella and Sonia are coming back to Spain with me, so I have a part of my family with me. And I couldn't hope to be with a better unit on my birthday. Zoya is one of the coolest directors I've worked with."


The actress is happy with the year gone by.


"I got to work with two women directors Zoya and Farah Khan this year. And they were both such fun to work with. I also had a big hit 'Raajneeti'. I couldn't have asked for more. In the coming year, I hope to find love. Every girl needs someone to share her life with," she said.


Katrina returns to India next month to face one of her biggest challenges as an actress. On August 11, she has to perform an item song with Akshay Kumar for Farah Khan's 'Tees Maar Khan'.


"It is like no other item song. It will have elements from both Indian and western dance forms. It will blend various styles and give me a chance to perform what could possibly be my most challenging on-screen dances. I can't wait to return and start rehearsing for the number," she said.

Katrina's Hindi challenge, anyone?

Well, the critics could pan her as much as they like for her Hindi accent topped with a Brit twang, but the lovely Katrina Kaif seems quite unperturbed by all of it.



Firstly, if Raajneeti is anything to go by, her Hindi is getting better. We mean she had more than just mushy dialogues, and songs to lip sync on. In the movie, she had reams of heavy-duty speeches to deliver. Secondly, she has another quality that many shudh Hindi speaking hotties can’t beat her at. It’s her impeccable memory. “What makes it all easy is that I have a very good memory. So, no matter what lines you give me or how long it is, even if runs into three-four pages, it’s never a challenge to memorise it. I only need to work on the accent, and you have to remember that Hindi is not my first language,” explains Katz. So, we would assume that a movie like Raajneeti would have been a super challenge for this beauty. We’re wrong, dearies, and Katz sweetly corrects, “The good thing is that with a movie like Raajneeti you have to concentrate only on the scenes you are doing, and you don’t spend time doing rehearsals on songs and dance. Although, I love doing song and dance numbers, for this role I really understood the emotions of the character.” Here’s a warning people... this gal remembers every word written and said about her. 'Singh Is Kinng 2' ready to roll

Here's the latest on the Akki-Kat project


Before the brand runs out of steam, Akshay Kumar has decided to run the next instalment of 'Singh Is Kinng'.


Vipul Shah, who was in two minds, has decided to direct the sequel since Anees Bazmi seems too busy.


"Yes, after much planning and plotting, and two years since the first film, we've finally cracked an idea that works. My writer Suresh Nair and I are happy with what we've come up with. And yes I'll be directing the sequel," Vipul said.


Though Vipul is not willing to reveal much of the plot for the sequel at this juncture, it's reliably learnt that the sequel would begin where the first 'Singh Is Kinng' trailed off, namely in Australia and then move to another country, apparently Canada which is Akshay's second home.


Akshay's haste to start 'Singh Is Kinng 2' has a root cause. While playing a 'mona Sardar' in 'Patiala House' in London last month, he was repeatedly asked by Sikh fans in Great Britain when they'd get to see him as Singh again.


Akshay immediately contacted Vipul from London and urged him to direct the sequel.


Says Akshay: "Yes, a lot of fans in the UK are eager to see us do a sequel to 'Singh Is Kinng'. And I've asked Vipul to get on with it."


There is only one hitch. Singh's queen Katrina is completely booked till next year. And the sequel cannot be made without her.


Laughs Vipul: "She won't let me or Akshay make it without her. We'll just have to see how her dates are worked out."

Katrina bonds with Salman's family

She recently arranged a special screening of 'Raajneeti' for them


For those who think Katrina Kaif has severed all relations with Salman Khan and his family, there is news. Recently she arranged a show of her latest hit 'Raajneeti' for Salim Khan who is proud of the actress.


Talking about arranging the show for Salman's family after they've apparently split, Katrina said: "I wish all these speculations on my personal life would end. Salman's family is the only family I've known in Mumbai. That can't change.


"Of course, I wanted Salim saab to see 'Raajneeti' for very special reason. He has seen my struggle in Bollywood from the start. He's very proud of me."


'Raajneeti' director Prakash Jha said: "Salim saab was full of praise for 'Raajneeti'. He specially praised the dialogues which, coming from him, was a great compliment. Earlier, Salim saab had said what he and Javed Akhtar saab wrote as a cops story in 'Zanjeer' was nowhere near the authenticity of my cops story in 'Gangaa Jal'. He's a generous man."


Salim Khan's generosity was also evident in the call he made to Katrina praising her mature and restrained performance in 'Raajneeti'.


After tweeting to the entire world that he would definitely like to see 'Raajneeti' and raising Katrina's hopes that he'd finally watch one of her films, Salman stayed away from the special screening of the movie. He has not seen a single film of Katrina.

Katrina's party plans ruined

What's the reason she's missing the 'Raajneeti' success bash?



Katrina Kaif was supposed to fly down to Mumbai for a day to attend the 'Raajneeti' success party on June 23 from Spain, where she is shooting for Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara', but the actress had to drop her plans because of the bad weather there.


The 'Raajneeti' team has a lot to celebrate about, but director Prakash Jha wanted no celebration until his lucky mascot Katrina was available.


But Zoya's crew has been facing rough weather ever since they arrived in Spain. Apparently six days of shooting had to be cancelled because of heavy rains. And now they need to quickly make up for lost time since their work permits and visas would expire.


Jha admits that Katrina would be unable to make it to the party.


"They've lost a lot of time because of the rain in Spain. I couldn't dream of having a 'Raajneeti' bash without Katrina. And I had postponed it until her availability. But now it's impossible for Katrina to fly down," Jha said.


Katrina even requested the film's producers and the director to accommodate her absence for less than a day.

Says a source close to Katrina: "Since Prakash Jha was very, very keen to have her down to Mumbai for the bash, and had even made all the arrangements for her flight, Katrina was not willing to give up the idea of attending the function. She offered to be back in less than 24 hours. Katrina was willing to fly to Mumbai, attend the 'Raajneeti' bash on Wednesday and fly out the same night to re-join the '...Dobara' team the next morning. But this has not been allowed."

Jha will now record a video message from Katrina and play it at the party. "So she will be with us in spirit if not in person," he said.

Katrina, on the other hand, tried to sound diplomatic and not disappointed. "It is a big day. And the success of 'Raajneeti' is very precious to me. But I can't leave the crew in Spain."

She admits there're lots of unscheduled breaks. Katrina has got one of her sisters, Melissa, to join her in Spain to give her company at break time.

Katrina Kaif has been basking in the success of Prakash Jha's 'Raajneeti' while in Spain, but she is really missing the first rains in Mumbai.


"Katrina loves the rains and loves the smell of the wet mud just after the first rains. She was really upset when she found out she missed it," said a source close to the actress.


Mumbai recently received its first rain that brought relief to the otherwise humid city. But Katrina has been in Spain shooting for Zoya Akhtar's next.

What's a young college student done to look just like Kat?


Many girls want to have a figure like Katrina Kaif, but very few would go to the length of hiring her personal instructor. A die-hard fan of the young actress has actually done that.


The crazy fan saved up all her pocket money so that she could train with Katrina’s instructor Yasmin Khan just so that she could be as fit as the actress, said a source.


"The girl is just in college and has given up her outings and other such perks that most girls her age enjoy just so that she can save up money to afford to train with Yasmin.


"The fan wants to adopt Katrina’s route to fitness and hence keenly wants to train under Yasmin for which she is saving up money. A lot of young girls come to Yasmin with the same request. They all want to be just like Katrina," the source added.

'Raajneeti' hits jackpot at the box office

With 95 per cent occupancy in theatres, the movie's had a great opening weekend



Multiple controversies notwithstanding, Prakash Jha's much-awaited and much-hyped dark political thriller 'Raajneeti' has set the cash registers ringing - courtesy its widely-appreciated content.


"'Raajneeti' (released Friday) is a super-duper hit. The movie is being massively appreciated and will have a definite second weekend run. We have had an average occupancy of close to 95 percent for 26 shows per day and we sold off 4,200 tickets in advance till Sunday," Amit Awasthi, senior manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas, said.


"We have collected a gross of Rs.28 lakh and all shows are full on Sunday (June 6)," he added.


Amit Shah, chief manager (programming) of DLF DT cinemas, echoed the view.


"'Raajneeti' is a must-watch film. The content of the movie is being highly appreciated and it is moving towards being the highest grosser over the weekend for this year till now," Shah said.


"We've had an average occupancy of close to 90 percent and we are running around 15-17 shows in prime properties and around 9-12 shows in other properties. The movie will bring a good second weekend," he added.


Produced by UTV with around Rs.45 crore, the movie has been distributed by Prakash Jha Productions, Walkwater Media and UTV Motion Pictures with over 2,100 prints worldwide.


Inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharata, 'Raajneeti' takes a behind-the-scenes look at the working of Indian politics and features an ensemble line-up, including the likes of Nana Patekar and Naseeruddin Shah, Ajay Devgn and Manoj Bajpai.


Heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, along with model-turned-actor Arjun Rampal, also play pivotal roles in the movie.


The film was in trouble when it was first denied a certificate by the censor board for Katrina's character reportedly having a resemblance to Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi.


Jha, however, dismissed the allegation saying that the movie is actually a modern re-telling of the Mahabharata.


Some intimate scenes and excessive violence sequences were also removed before the movie was given a U/A censor certificate.


"We've had a very good response till now and most of the shows have been running housefull with an average occupancy of close to 85 percent over the weekend. Everyone has liked the movie and the storyline is pretty strong. Word of mouth publicity is very good," said Jayendra Banerji, vice president (operations) of Satyam Cineplexes.


Deepak Taluja, senior vice president (business and operations) of Fun Cinemas, added: "The movie is going very well and almost all the shows have been housefull with an occupancy of close to 80-90 percent. People are really praising the movie and we are hopeful that this one will have maximum shows in the second week too."


Fun Cinemas is running 11 and 13 shows of 'Raajneeti' for all three and four screen properties respectively.
