Akki says bye to salary, hello to comedy

You may never see Akshay Kumar in his Khiladi avatar again. The actor has decided to star only in comedies henceforth. "In Khatta Meetha, I tried to make people laugh because it's very important to create laughter.

Check the success record of the past five years. Most successful films have been hasya kathas (laughathons)," he says.

His logic? Akki believes audiences are tired of all the tears on television and seek humour when they go to the movies. "They refuse to pay good money to cry at the movies."

That's not all. In another major career decision, Kumar has decided to stop taking remuneration for his films.

Instead, he will share in the profits. "Even for Khatta Meetha, I charged nothing. I sold it at a reasonable price.
And since I am a partner in the production, the only way I'll make money is if the film profits. This is the only way to make sure distributors don't suffer." Henceforth, Kumar has also decided to co-produce all the films he stars in.

For the moment though, he has no new films in hand and will take it easy for the rest of the year. "Action Replayy, Tees Maar Khan and Patiala House are almost ready. I've no new projects for next year," he says.

Calling Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson and Charlie Chaplin his idols, Akki says he has fallen in love with the part of the common man that he essayed in Khatta Meetha. "Mr Bean is universally liked. Chaplin is a loser; he never gets the girl in the end. Playing the loser is not easy. I don't want to take the easy route of playing the super-hero any more. I'd rather play Mr Bean than James Bond. My characters should have a heart and a funny bone."

Flamboyance therefore, will be reserved only for his advertisements. "On the large screen, I'd rather be smaller instead of larger than life."

Sajid Khan's 'Housefull' is a remake of the Kamal Haasan, Prabhu Deva starrer Kadhala Kadhala

    http://bollydhamal.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Bollywood_Movie_Housefull_Wallpapers_00001.jpg
The Sajid Khan-directed hit Housefull (supposedly a remake of the Kamal Haasan- Prabhu Deva starrer Kadhala Kadhala) starring Akshay Kumar, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan, has run into trouble.

The Chennai High Court has issued a stay order on the film and hence, the film will not be telecast on Indian satellite television and cable.

Earlier, PL Thenappan, who produced Kadhala Kadhala, had filed a complaint with the Tamil Film Producer’s Council, alleging that Kadhala Kadhala was remade in Hindi as Housefull without prior permission.

'Khatta Meetha' doing well at single screens, failing at multiplexes

The Akshay Kumar starrer 'Khatta Meetha' has had a sweet-sour effect on the box office as the Priyadarshan helmed comedy has made single-screen audiences burst into guffaws but left the multiplex crowd asking for more.

"The overall average occupancy for 'Khaata Meetha' over the weekend was 75 percent. Word of mouth is not that great and it is not being appreciated. Basically, it is a masses film meant only for single-screens where it is doing very well unlike in the multiplexes," Amit Awasthi, senior manager (Programming and Operations) of Spice Cinemas, said.

"Monday (July 26) onwards the occupancy of the movie has fallen drastically," he added.

A source from PVR cinemas said: "The weekend was okay and the occupancy was only 60 percent. The content is average and the initial was not as expected as out of an Akshay Kumar movie. We hope it sustains this week. However, it is doing well in single-screens."

Produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd and distributed by DreamWorld Searchlight Pictures, 'Khatta Meetha' takes a dig at corruption and bribery.

Akshay's character in the movie is modelled on renowned cartoonist R.K. Laxman's iconic 'Common Man' character.

A remake of Priyadarshan's 1988 Malayalam film 'Vellanakalude Naadu', it also stars Makrand Deshpande, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Aroona Irani and Milind Gunaji. Southern actress Trisha makes her Bollywood debut with the film.

"The weekend for 'Khatta Meetha' was only above average and not as per expectations, though not below too. The occupancy over the weekend has only been 70-75 percent vis-a-vis Akshay's films that generally get a 90-95 percent opening," said Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas.

"The content is being appreciated at small centres but we are hoping it to sustain over the week, though there has been some fall on Monday," he added.

Deepak Taluja, senior vice president (Business and Operations) of Fun Cinemas, however, had a different story to tell.

"The weekend went quite well. Our expectations were rather very low but at the Delhi properties, it has got an occupancy of 60-65 percent on an average. Akshay Kumar's movie's hardly have a story but viewers have somehow liked it," said Taluja.

Single-screen theatres are going gaga over the film.

"People are liking the movie and it might stretch for a week at least. We have had an average occupancy of 80-85 percent in the initial weekend with a gross of over Rs.400,000. We are very happy with the audience reaction," said Prakash Dubey, manager, Sheila Cinema.

Added a source from Sangam cinema: "The movie has done good business at Sangam with an occupancy of over 80 percent. In fact Sunday (July 25) was houseful and jampacked. We are hoping it will sustain for at least two weeks."

Box Office Update: Metro plexes khatta, single screens meetha

The opening response of KHATTA MEETHA was extremely mixed across the country. While the film opened to a below average response at multiplexes of metros, the opening numbers of the film at single screens ranged from good to very good. The occupancy at multiplexes was in 40% to 50% range, while single screens were 70% to 80%, which is good, but not excellent. The not-too-happening response at multiplexes of metros isn't good news, since a major chunk of revenue comes from plexes mainly. Will the single screens compensate that business, is to be seen.

Akshay Kumar's previous release HOUSE FULL had embarked on an electrifying start across the nation. In comparison, KHATTA MEETHA is approx. 60% of HOUSE FULL. One key factor that has gone against the film, besides the lack of solid content of course, is the fact that the makers had publicised the film as a full-on comedy, while KHATTA MEETHA is a satire, with emphasis on drama. The misleading promotion seems to have sent out wrong signals, with several moviegoers feeling dejected.

KHATTA MEETHA has to fare exceedingly well on Saturday and Sunday [at plexes as well as single screens], if it has to collect a hefty total in its opening weekend.

MOVIE REVIEW: Khatta Meetha

    Khatta Meetha, Akshay Kumar,Trisha Krishnan,Makrand Deshpande,Rajpal Yadav,Neeraj Vora,Milind Gunaji,Asrani,Aruna Irani,Urvashi Sharma,Manoj Joshi,Tinu Anand,Kulbhushan Kharbanda,Paritosh Sand,Atul Parchure,Johny Lever

When Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar join hands, you expect the cineplex to reverberate with laughter. Let's not forget, the team has regaled us with some terrific entertainers in the past. Naturally then, you expect KHATTA MEETHA to take the legacy forward.

Unfortunately, KHATTA MEETHA is noise [the actors scream a lot in this movie], more noise [the great promotion] and only noise, while the content takes a complete backseat. Although KHATTA MEETHA shouldn't be compared to this combo's earlier works, since this one's a satire, I have to add that this is their weakest film to date.

The first question I asked myself once the movie got over was, what's the story? Okay, okay, neither did Priyadarshan's last few films had a story to tell, but when you attempt a satire, when one talks of the hardships faced by the common man, when one talks of corruption in society, there HAS to be a story in place. That goes without saying!

KHATTA MEETHA raises a finger at the corruption in government establishments, but what it tries to say, or expose, has been witnessed over and over again. In fact, it's the writing -- sorry, the absence of it -- that makes matters worse. The beginning is good, the middle falters and the end is exasperating.

Final word? This one's far from being meetha. It's a khatta experience!

Struggling road construction contractor Sachin Tichkule [Akshay Kumar] is doomed. There is no chance that his dreams will ever come true, simply because he has no money to bribe. To make matters worse, the new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex girl friend [Trisha], who now hates him.

The film reveals the extent of corruption and bribery rampant in the system and the ingenious means you have to adopt if you want to survive in today's times.

KHATTA MEETHA attempts to say a lot many things in those 2.40 hours. Oh yes, its running time is a problem, more so because the narrative lacks the power to keep you hooked to the proceedings. Okay, coming back to what I wanted to say, KHATTA MEETHA is more of a collage of isolated incidents encompassed in those 2.40 hours. The collapse of the bridge, the consequent murder of Tinnu Anand, the constant bickering in the house, the tu-tu-main-main between Akshay and Trisha, the sister's track, the corrupt netas and government babus, the payment issue of workers... several sequences are a repeat of what's you watched barely minutes ago or an hour ago.

While the romantic track is the weakest link [half-baked; the songs are forced down your throats, without valid situations whatsoever], the flashback portions, depicting Akshay Kumar as a college student [!!!], is just hard to digest. Even the end is worn out and doesn't give the feel of contentment that one expects at the conclusion of a film.

Priyadarshan's handling of the comic sequences is noteworthy, especially in the first half of the film. The repair-and-paint sequence at Asrani's mansion is sure to bring the house down. Ditto for the conversation that Asrani has with multiple people, in person and also on phone. Also, the road roller sequence is a laugh-riot and prior to that Johny Lever's sequence of repairing the road roller is truly funny. But a few isolated sequences aren't enough. The veteran storyteller ought to know the importance of a watertight screenplay by now.

Cinematographer V. Manikandan's lens captures the exteriors with flourish. Pritam's music is easy on the ears and at least two songs are extremely popular as well, but the placement of songs in the narrative acts as a roadblock. Dialogues are funny at times, especially the one-liners.

Akshay Kumar plays the common man with gusto. He looks his part and more importantly, not once do you feel that he's repeating himself. However, he goes over the top in a few sequences. Trisha carries the Plain Jane look well, but fails as an actress. The fiery attitude, so vital when you're enacting the role of the Municipal Commissioner, is missing. Rajpal Yadav is in terrific form yet again. What a splendid actor!

Urvashi Sharma is awkward. Makrand Deshpande is wasted. Tinnu Anand is hardly there. Even Aroona Irani is sidelined. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is first-rate. Asrani is excellent. Manoj Joshi screams so much. Ditto for Neeraj Vora. Milind Gunaji is okay. The actor playing the role of Urvashi's husband does a good job.

On the whole, KHATTA MEETHA is a major letdown from the accomplished director. It's not a full-blown comedy. It's not a full-scale satire either. Hugely disappointing!

Aamir-Akshay star in new film for Income Tax Department

Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan, two of the highest tax payers in B-town, will star in a documentary produced by the Income Tax Department to spread the message of tax compliance.

The documentary which is about 20-minutes-long, is narrated by veteran actor Om Puri in his trademark baritone and will also star Priyanka Chopra, according to sources.

The documentary will be unveiled by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the first-ever Income Tax day celebrations on July 24 in New Delhi.

Akshay paid an advance tax of Rs 9 crore in March 2010, taking his total advance tax payment in the current financial year to Rs 18 crore.

Aamir with an advance tax payment of Rs 12 crore stands second. "The ensemble which includes Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra represent the youth and spirit of the country. They are successful and pay their income tax responsibly," a top I-T officer involved in the project said.

The documentary chronicles the journey of taxation in the country and the role of the department in collecting direct taxes for the government which subsequently are utilised for development projects.

The film is presently undergoing editing at a studio here and will be brought out in a smaller version of eight minutes too, sources said.

The I-T department is celebrating the Income Tax day to mark 150 years of taxation in the country, which began in 1860.

This would also be the last year for the Income Tax Act, 1961 which would be taken over by the proposed Direct Taxes Code (DTC) from the next financial year.

The ensemble of speakers for the department during the Income Tax Day celebrations also include corporate chiefs like Infosys mentor Narayan Murthy and Wipro founder Azim Premji.

Akshay, Twinkle to trek in Jammu

Akshay Kumar has great plans as to what he can do after his latest film Khatta Meetha releases. And no, it's not signing on another film. Akshay has decided that he and wife Twinkle will go trekking and biking in the remote areas of Jammu. Akshay got the idea when he recently visited the place to shoot a song for Action Replayy. He was impressed with the unspoilt beauty of the place and the soothing effect it had on him. He realised that many places in Jammu were accessible only by two wheelers or on foot, so he has decided to go on this trip with his wife. The two will be pitching their tents wherever they are for the night during their adventure.

Akshay has no worries about crowds mobbing him on the way, especially as he will be without his security cordon. He feels that after dealing with crowds of more than 15,000 people during the promotion of Khatta Meetha, he will be able to prevent being accosted during his travels.

So will Akshay write his motorcycle diaries? That is yet to be seen.

Akshay Kumar wants serious roles

Akshay Kumar, who has been doing comedies of late, insists he hasn't given up on doing serious roles.

"I have not put a full stop on serious roles. I am still waiting for something that excites me. I did 8X10 Tasveer no one came to see it. so I am looking for a role that attracts more people than 8X10 Tasveer," Akshay told reporters here Friday. He was here to promote his film Khatta Meetha, which is releasing Friday. Directed by Priyadarshan, the comedy will see Akshay playing a contractor and he was dressed like one for the press meet.

In last few years, his name has been associated with comedies only, but the actor started his career with serious film Saugandh and later featured in action dramas such as Khiladi, Sangharsh, Ajnabee and Aakhein.

His stint with comedy started with Priyadarshan's super hit film Hera Pheri. After the success of the movie, Akshay worked in a string of comedies like Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, De Dhana Dhan and Housefull.

In most of the films his acting style was same, but the actor denies any monotony in his performance saying: "Everybody have their own viewpoint, but I don't feel there is any monotony."

WATCH: Akshay promotes Khatta Meetha on a bicycle

Akshay on a cycle to promote Khatta Meetha

To promote their films, stars these days are adopting new means to reach out to audiences.

Film star Akshay Kumar, whose new film Khatta Meetha is due for release, is visiting different cities for its promotion. And as part of this promotion campaign, the actor rode a bicycle symbolising the character of a common man he is playing in this film in Pune on Saturday.

Khatta Meetha is a political satire on the municipal and constructions dealings in India told through the life of a contractor Sachin Tichkule.

But unlike the common man, who will go unnoticed on a bicycle, Akshay Kumar had to face a lot of difficulty.

Akki could not find his way, as a large crowd that had gathered to see him made it impossible for him to even ride a few metres.

The actor struck an instant chord with his enthusiastic fans by speaking in their local language Marathi.

"Jai Maharashtra. It is not that I am learning Marathi, I know the language very well. I have a strong connection with Pune, in fact my first film was shot here. I am happy to be back in Pune," said Akshay.

Later talking to reporters, Akshay Kumar said that there is also a message in the film on how corruption is deep rooted in our system and which is why we can't even have good roads as the contractors have to bribe so many people.

"I think you should visit Mumbai and see the condition of roads there. It's pathetic and I came to know that it was because the contractors just cannot do quality work because they have to bribe so many people. But it's how the system works. There is a message in our movie and if we are able to get it through this will serve our purpose," he said.

This is Akshay's second release of 2010 after Housefull. Khatta Meetha, which also has southern actress Trisha is set to hit theaters on July 23.

Aishwarya, Akshay in Manali for Action Replay

Fans of Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan thronged the airport in Manali to get a glimpse of the beauty who is here to shoot for her upcoming film Action Replayy.

Accompanied by her mother, Aishwarya drove straight to the hotel Holiday Inn, where she would stay for a week while shooting the film.

While Akshay Kumar, who is paired opposite the former Miss World will arrive later, her other co-stars Rajpal Yadav and Neha Dhupia flew in yesterday.

Action Replayy is a big budget period drama where both Aishwarya and Akshay sport retro looks from the 70's and 80's.

Vipul Shah, the director of the movie had to cancel the shooting of film in Manali in June earlier due to the untimely snowfall in the hill town.

According to sources, Aishwarya and Akshay will shoot a retro-themed song and will stay for another four-five days.

Meanwhile, the entire unit remained busy in shooting indoors at hotel Holiday Inn and will go for outdoor shooting at Dobhi, 14 km from Wednesday (July 14).

Akshay gets called a 'jack*#@'

Big B rushes to Akki's defence after a journalist said that about him

Akshay Kumar has been promoting his movie 'Khatta Meetha' in some unusual ways recently, and not all of those ways have gone down too well. The star visited legendary cartoonist R K Laxman (who has been hospitalised after he suffered a stroke) a while ago. The idea was to get Laxman to watch the movie in which Akshay plays the 'common man' created by the cartoonist. Laxman can't speak or move much, but Akki took a picture next to his bedside anyway. Of course, Akki was all smiles in the pic, next to the bedridden cartoonist.

Seeing this, film critic Rajeev Masand posted on his Twitter page, "Need innovative ideas 2 promote films in competitive times. But Akshay Kumar grinning like a jack*#@ at R K Laxman's hospital bed is a new low."

Amitabh Bachchan took offence to this and responded, "Rajeev! Your fraternity will never pull you up for calling Akshay a 'jack*#@'. Ever thought if the reverse were to be done. would your fraternity have spared Akshay if he were to address you as one ..?? Never expected this language from you!!"

To this, Rajeev Masand replied: "Dear Mr Bachchan, in response to your message to me, my humble reply: Dear Sir, Let's consider: if my fraternity won't pull me up for that 'jack*#@' comment, could it possibly be because they see some sense in my comment? Or could it be because that’s what fraternity does: Stands by each other?
You should know, Sir. I don't remember your fraternity pulling you up for the attack on photographers by security outside your house during Abhishek’s wedding. I don't remember your fraternity so much as expressing outrage when Abhishek ‘allegedly’ bashed up a photographer on a film set.
But your concern Sir, is the use of the term 'jack*#@'. A strong word, perhaps, but appropriate I think, to express horror at the complete lack of sensitivity involved in a film promotion of that nature. However controversial my choice of words, it is me taking a ‘stand’, Sir. Expressing my ‘opinion’. Two words your fraternity seems largely unfamiliar with. Regarding your outrage/disappointment at my choice of words: Apologies, Sir. If expressing my opinion lowers your impression of me, then that is a cross I shall have to bear.
But finally, by your own logic, Sir: will your fraternity pull up Akshay for this tasteless gimmick? Or do you think it is innovative too?"

And then Akki joined the interaction. He wrote to Big B, "Never have i felt such a strong support towards me in my career, the love you have for your colleagues and our fraternity is one to be admired and followed...
As usual people are so quick to judge situations. I was invited by Mr Laxman's family and press to visit him in the hospital, as they thought it would be nice to meet the man that is bringing to life his legendary comic. And anyone who seen my smile by his bedside in any other way other than love has a cold judgmental heart and i can only pity them. I understand whatever we say or do Sir will always be speculated and blown into outrageous proportions, but always know you have a greatness about you that even the best of people find hard to understand.
My deepest gratitude to you for your humble support, if only we all possessed a bit of dignity quite like yours..."

Wow, looks like in this particular case, two members of the B'wood fraternity are definitely sticking together.

'Singh Is Kinng 2' ready to roll

Here's the latest on the Akki-Kat project

Before the brand runs out of steam, Akshay Kumar has decided to run the next instalment of 'Singh Is Kinng'.

Vipul Shah, who was in two minds, has decided to direct the sequel since Anees Bazmi seems too busy.

"Yes, after much planning and plotting, and two years since the first film, we've finally cracked an idea that works. My writer Suresh Nair and I are happy with what we've come up with. And yes I'll be directing the sequel," Vipul said.

Though Vipul is not willing to reveal much of the plot for the sequel at this juncture, it's reliably learnt that the sequel would begin where the first 'Singh Is Kinng' trailed off, namely in Australia and then move to another country, apparently Canada which is Akshay's second home.

Akshay's haste to start 'Singh Is Kinng 2' has a root cause. While playing a 'mona Sardar' in 'Patiala House' in London last month, he was repeatedly asked by Sikh fans in Great Britain when they'd get to see him as Singh again.

Akshay immediately contacted Vipul from London and urged him to direct the sequel.

Says Akshay: "Yes, a lot of fans in the UK are eager to see us do a sequel to 'Singh Is Kinng'. And I've asked Vipul to get on with it."

There is only one hitch. Singh's queen Katrina is completely booked till next year. And the sequel cannot be made without her.

Laughs Vipul: "She won't let me or Akshay make it without her. We'll just have to see how her dates are worked out."

FIRST LOOK: Khatta Meetha

Akshay's made his Diwali plans

He wants 'Action Replayy' to release during the festival, just like 'Blue' did

After 'Blue' last year, one would think Akshay Kumar would stay away from Diwali releases. In fact that is what Vipul Shah had presumed and was in fact planning an Eid or a post-Diwali release for his directorial venture 'Action Replayy', but a call from the star changed his plans.

Akshay, who is playing the male lead and also co-producing 'Action Replayy', called Shah from London and asked him to opt for a Diwali release despite the fact that a big franchise film 'Golmaal 3' was already scheduled for the same time.

"You'd be surprised to know that in spite of 'Blue' last Diwali, Akshay wants us to go ahead with 'Action Replayy' this Diwali. Let's not forget, Akshay's 'Garam Masala' had also released for Diwali and it was a big hit," said Shah.

Apparently Akshay wants a Diwali release because he feels a fun, frothy, and goofy film like 'Action Replayy' has great festive value, and never mind a bad omen.

"We're hoping for both 'Golmaal 3' and 'Action Replayy' to do well. If only one film can succeed, may the best one win. And may we be the best," said Shah.

Shah is also planning a collaboration with Tamil director Gautham Menon who directed the original Tamil version of Suriya-starrer 'Kaakha Kaakha' that he is now remaking in Hindi with John Abraham in the lead. Nishikant Kamat will direct it.

Throughout the re-scripting of the original Tamil into Hindi, Shah kept Menon in the loop about the changes.

"We've made drastic changes in the script from the original. 'Kaakha Kaakha' is a seven-year-old film. The cop played by John will be completely different from Suriya in the original. The police force and the law and order situation have changed.

"We've altered the screenplay completely. While buying the remake rights, we had stipulated that the changes would be made. So legally or ethically we did not need to keep Gautham in the loop."

However, Shah felt it was only decent to inform the original about the changes. During these telephonic conversations between Shah and Menon, the former realised the Tamil director could bring a refreshing new idiom to commercial Hindi cinema.

"I'm definitely going to work with Gautham," said Shah.

Aamir, SRK and the mystery star

Who met up with them to have the 'funniest superstar experience'?

It was quite a starry coincidence when Akshay Kumar’s recent travel plans had him bumping into both Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. And Akki thought it was quite an amusing coincidence too.

He posted on his Twitter account earlier today, “I just had the funniest superstar experience. I flew back to Bombay and Aamir Khan was on my flight :) So we enjoyed a bit of the football World Cup before we flew back to our homeland together.”

Akki continued, “And the next day I flew back to London to join my wife and son for our summer holiday and i met Shah Rukh Khan on my flight to London :)”

Stranger things have happened! But then Akki got into ‘industry bonding’ mode. He wrote, “It was nice to know he (SRK) feels as grateful as I am for being a part of our industry and how lucky we are.”

And then Akshay revealed what he found really surprising about what happened, “It is amazing I managed to chat more with my work mates on a flight than I do in the entire year :)” Right, but we’ll also say that when you’re on a flight, there’s no option but to chat! It’s not like anyone could’ve got off whenever they wanted!

Akshay is the desi Robin Hood

His role in 'Tees Maar Khan' is inspired by the English hero

Akshay Kumar plays a con man in 'Tees Maar Khan' and director Farah Khan says his role is inspired by English folklore hero Robin Hood.

"In 'Tees Maar Khan', Akshay plays a modern-day extra smart conman, who steals money from the rich and gives it to the poor, someone like Robin Hood," Farah said.

"Around 50 to 55 percent of the film is complete and we plan to finish shooting by September. Like always, in this film also you will see a mix of action, comedy and emotions."

This is Farah's third film after 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Om Shanti Om', but the first one without Shah Rukh Khan who played the main lead in both her previous movies.

Apart from Akshay, 'Tees Maar Khan' also stars Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna, Arya Babbar, Aman Verma and Ali Asgar.

In 'Tees Maar Khan', Akshay will be seen sporting an Indian Muslim look. Designer Aki Narula has worked on his costumes alongside an international team of make-up artists and hairdressers.

Apart from the movie, Farah's been busy on the judge's seat on Zee TV’s dance reality show 'Dance India Dance Li’l Masters', where she will be seen judging kids aged 5-14 years old.

"I am a reality show junkie. I enjoy judging because these shows make us realise that there is so much talent here. I feel reality shows are a great platform as it gives great exposure as well as recognition to individuals. As a judge I'll try not to be harsh to the kids," said Farah who was in New Delhi to promote the show.

When asked what does she think of the government guidelines that children under a certain age should not be a part of reality shows, Farah said: "If these kids are not brought forward how will we get to know they are so talented.

"I feel it depends upon the parents how they mould their children, whether they turn out to be aggressive or take the competition in a healthy way."

Aishwarya-Akshay rewind some more

They’ll perform a song paying tribute to Bollywood couples of the 70s in ‘Action Replayy’

Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar’s movie ‘Action Replayy’ has a time-travel theme, and looks like director Vipul Shah is determined to add more and more elements from the 70s to it.

First there was the ‘Saturday Night Fever’ inspired song, where Ash and Akki will be moving a la John Travolta. And now it seems that the two will also perform a song paying tribute to famous Bollywood couples from the 70s. Think Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Dharmendra and Hema Malini, Shashi Kapoor and Parveen, and Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz.

The song is composed by Pritam Chakraborty and the lyrics are "Nakhre nakhre nakhre, nakhre hain naatak re, nakhre nakhre nakhre tu peeche hi rakh re."

Apparently, the song will be in the typical 70s style, and have a mischievous tone to it. Well, it’s got Aishwarya paying tribute to her in-laws, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. Now if only she were shooting with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, the tribute would have been complete!
