“Every film is different. David and I have worked together before but we have evolved with each new script. Earlier when I worked with David and Chi Chi, I played a gharelu wife but now she is a 21st century wife, so there is an evolution. David is sorted that way; he moves with time,” she says in praise of her director.

“I am looking very nice and thin in the movie. I put on weight and lost it. Though it sounds easy, it was difficult,” smiles Sush.

“There are all sorts of people in the world. Some listen to music in the car while others like listening to music in the disco. Instead of other people doing a cheap remix of it, we did it ourselves. It isn’t just a promotional video; it is a song in the movie and I love it,” she says about the remix of Bebo featuring her.

“The pace of the film is fast and there is confusion. So you cannot take a break and go to the washroom or buy popcorn as you will get even more confused and then you have to come back to watch the film, which is excellent for our business!” jokes the beauty with brains.

“Riteish is fantastic. He is a superb actor. I have seen his films but I hadn’t worked with him before this. His timing (comic) is mind-blowing. He is a grounded person and a fabulous dancer. Govinda and Riteish cannot be compared. They are both individuals who are fantastic in their places. Riteish can do any role. What is dangerous these days is that boys have better chemistry with each other than girls have with boys so we need to watch out. Riteish and Chi Chi are fantastic,” Ms. Sen exclaims.

“People should watch the film because there isn’t a better film to spend your hard earned money on. What does one want from a film? Fantastic entertainment along with the illusion of leaving your life behind. David Dhawan’s DKD is a shiny example of the above elements,” she signs off.

Do Knot Disturb - Movie Review

David Dhawan has always made wacky and bizarre films and his new baby DO KNOT DISTURB doesn't push the envelope either. His critics may term his cinema outlandish and outrageous, but the fact is that his films cater to the aam junta. His mantra is simple: Haso aur hasao.

Now let's analyse DO KNOT DISTURB, inspired by the French film LA DOUBLURE aka THE VALET [2006]. David has tackled extra-marital affairs in his earlier films like SAAJAN CHALE SASURAL, GHARWALI BAHARWALI and BIWI NO. 1. DO KNOT DISTURB also talks of a married man having a torrid affair with a supermodel, but it's not remotely similar to his past endeavours.

Actually, DO KNOT DISTURB rests on a thin plot and David relies on gags and jokes to keep you hooked for those 2 + hours. Even though you realise that there's not much meat in the story, even though the situations are silly, you remain glued to the proceedings because it keeps you in splits thanks to the funny jokes and the weird characters.

So what's the verdict? DO KNOT DISTURB is sure to keep you smiling from start to end. A few portions may even prompt you to laugh aloud or break into a guffaw. If non-stop mindless entertainment is on your mind, this recipe is just for you. Do Knot miss this one!

A filthy rich businessman [Govinda], married to a beautiful and sophisticated woman [Sushmita Sen], tries to hide his extra-marital affair with a supermodel [Lara Dutta]. To save his skin, he bribes a waiter [Ritesh Deshmukh] into pretending to be the supermodel's boyfriend. What follows is a series of mistaken identities and misunderstandings.

David Dhawan opens his cards at the very outset. The emphasis is on comic situations, while the story goes out of the window after a point. You don't mind it purely because the motive, like always, is to keep you in splits and DO KNOT DISTURB succeeds to a large extent.

At the same time, writer Yunus Sajawal takes a long route to reach the culmination. The Ranvir Shorey dual role sequence, for instance, seems unwarranted. Also, Sohail Khan's portions looks forced in the narrative. Even otherwise, the post-interval portions are very lengthy, although the comic scenes compensate for the deficiencies in the writing.

David Dhawan is the Big Boss of laughathons and DO KNOT DISTURB proves his supremacy yet again. You may argue that the goings-on are plain ridiculous and ludicrous, but the entertainment quotient is so high that you ignore the weak plot gradually. Nadeem-Shravan's music is pleasant. The songs are well filmed too. Vijay Arora's cinematography is excellent. Dialogues [Amit Aryan] are first-rate. In fact, a few one-liners actually bring the house down.

Govinda is matchless in a David Dhawan film and DO KNOT DISTURB confirms this fact yet again. In fact, there are certain parts that only he can portray and David taps that potential to the fullest. Watch Govinda when he suddenly starts speaking in a female voice during the Ranvir Shorey episode. It's howlarious!

Ritesh Deshmukh is superb. Matching Govinda in scene after scene is next to impossible, but Ritesh stands on his feet all through. His scenes with Lara also are thoroughly enjoyable. Lara Dutta springs a pleasant surprise. Known for glamorous roles uptil now, she handles the comic act extremely well. Also, she looks sensuous in several scenes. Sushmita Sen is wonderful, though she gets limited scope to prove her mettle.

Sohail Khan's role is sketchy, hence it doesn't make an impact. Ranvir Shorey is excellent. Manoj Pahwa and Rajpal Yadav are amazing in their respective parts. Himani Shivpuri is alright. Rituparna Sengupta is hardly there.

On the whole, DO KNOT DISTURB is a mass entertainer that keeps you entertained and smiling/laughing in most parts. At the box-office, this one lives up to the hype and expectations and that in turn should reflect very strongly in its business.

Do Not Disturb Lara

Lara Dutta was last seen as a village belle in Billu. She plays a mini-skirt clad voluptuous hottie and ‘other woman’ in David Dhawan’s Do Knot Disturb. The beauty with brains talks about her role in the masala film, among other things



“I play Dolly who is in love with a married man. To hide this extra-marital affair, the characters do certain things that culminate in drama and comedy. Dolly has become famous because of the way Chi-Chi calls her in the promo,” says Lara.

There were rumours about her not getting along with Sushmita Sen. “Working with her was a dream come true because for the first time, two Miss Universe title holders are part of one film. I have only a few scenes with her but we both didn’t have any catfights. It was fun shooting with her,” Lara clarifies.

This is her third film with Govinda after Bhagam Bhag and Partner. Lara says excitedly, “It has been a fantastic experience working with him again after doing movies like Bhagam Bhag and Partner. I have more scenes with Govinda in this movie than the previous ones. We have also been paired in Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, which is also a comedy. Govinda and David Dhawan comedy to a different level altogether and I had to make sure I matched up to their standards.”

Comedy seems to be her forte as she was particularly good in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. About doing comedy, she says, “Comedy is very serious business and I didn’t choose my comic roles intentionally. They just happened and I think they are more difficult than serious or dramatic roles. I am having a great time working with directors like David Dhawan, Priyadarshan and Saijd Khan, who are good at making comedy films.”

Lara’s waiting with bated breath

Two of her films are releasing soon


Lara Dutta, who has been creating waves with her svelte figure and bold avatar in the promos of Blue, hopes the film turns out to be a hit and makes her Diwali really special.

Blue, also starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Zayed Khan is centered on an underwater treasure guarded by sharks and is slated to release Oct 16, just a day before Diwali.

"My next film after Do Knot Disturb, Blue is releasing just a day before Diwali, so I'm hoping that it does well and my Diwali becomes a bumper Diwali," Lara, who was wearing a pink satin dress, told reporters here.

Asked how she planned to celebrate the festival of lights, Lara said Diwali would be a family affair for her this year, unlike last time.

"Diwali is a festival meant to be celebrated with family, but last year I was shooting in Singapore for Do Knot Disturb. So this year I'll be spending time with my close ones," Lara said.

Moreover even the music CDs feature the rest of the cast prominently while she appears only in one group photo.







Produced by Vashu Bhagnani and directed by David Dhawan, the comic caper releases on October 2. According to B-Town rumours, there were certain issues between Sush and the makers of the film. There was also buzz that she did not get along with co-star Lara during the shoot.

So, is Sush being sidelined in the promotions? Says Bhagnani, "I am currently in New Delhi for the promotions of the film and am standing right next to a huge cutout of Sushmita. We have kept her out of the TV promos because every film follows a certain marketing strategy. We don't want to give away everything before the film releases. We have kept her character under wraps. We want Sushmita's presence to come as a surprise to the audience."

According to Bhagnani, Sushmita is a lady with a big heart. "Rumour mongers can say anything about her and the film's promotions but all this does not affect her. She knows what we are doing and we are well aware what a great person she is. She is too big for all this and whoever has been talking all this are ants. I have known Sushmita for years; almost 10 years ago she featured in my film Biwi No 1. She is a class apart."

Lara dismisses reports of rivalry with Sushmita

The two beauty queens became Miss Universe and later joined Bollywood. Now when they come together for a film, rumours of rivalry are bound to do the rounds. But Lara Dutta, who stars along with Sushmita Sen in comedy "Do Knot Distrurb", says they got along well and would love to work together again.

"Sushmita is a lovely person and we never had any problem working with each other. This (rumour) is generated for publicity, but there is normally very little truth behind the talk that we didn't get along," Lara told IANS in an interview.

"Our country has only two Miss Universes and if they also start fighting...it couldn't get sadder than that. I just wish I had more screen time to share with her, as we had not worked together earlier and it was a fantastic opportunity," she said.

Rumour mills were abuzz that the two actresses were having a cold war due to Lara's meaty part in the film directed by David Dhawan.

Lara hoped she would get a chance to work again with Sushmita, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1994.

"I hope people will cast us again at some other time. At least David (Dhawan) should do it again," said Lara, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2000.

Co-produced by Big pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, "Do Knot Disturb" is a laugh riot on marriage and infidelity. Releasing on Oct 2, the movie also stars Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey and Rajpal Yadav.

Throwing light on her character, Lara said: "I play Dolly who is sort of a pin-up girl for men. But her own life is very complicated as she loves a man who is her sugar daddy.

"She wants security too; so she has an ex-boyfriend who truly loves her and at the same time she also has an unsuspecting soul who enters her life and turns into her best friend. So it's complicated for her to decide what is it that she actually wants in life among security, love, compatibility and her best friend. That ties a knot in her life, which she has to unravel."

Comedy is Lara's forte as she showed her funny side in "Masti", "No Entry", "Bhagam Bhag" and "Partner".

"I love doing comedies. There's been an image of Miss Universe tagged to me and normally people associate me with being more cerebral and more poise because of the crown.

"But what people don't know is that I am very comic in real life too. Doing comedies just gives me an excuse to be who I am. And if people think it's great acting, it works for me," she said.

"Do Knot Disturb" is also Lara's third film with Govinda after "Bhagam Bhaag" and "Partner".

"I am very lucky to have got this film because if at all I consider myself to be a comic actress, then working with Govinda at least once is necessary. But I have had the opportunity to work with him for the third time and our fourth film ('Banda Yeh Bindaas hai') is also ready," she said.

"He is a fantastic actor and I got an opportunity to grow as a comic actor with him. He is one of those actors who can make people cry with his laughter and at the same time make them laugh with his crying," she added.

With other future projects like "Blue", "Housefull" and "Tom & Jerry" in her kitty, Lara is on a high with the way her career is shaping up.

"I am very happy. It's a good time and good place where I am right now," she said.

Co-produced by Big pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, "Do Knot Disturb" is a laugh riot on marriage and infidelity. Releasing on Oct 2, the movie also stars Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey and Rajpal Yadav.

Throwing light on her character, Lara said: "I play Dolly who is sort of a pin-up girl for men. But her own life is very complicated as she loves a man who is her sugar daddy.

"She wants security too; so she has an ex-boyfriend who truly loves her and at the same time she also has an unsuspecting soul who enters her life and turns into her best friend. So it's complicated for her to decide what is it that she actually wants in life among security, love, compatibility and her best friend. That ties a knot in her life, which she has to unravel."

Comedy is Lara's forte as she showed her funny side in "Masti", "No Entry", "Bhagam Bhag" and "Partner".

"I love doing comedies. There's been an image of Miss Universe tagged to me and normally people associate me with being more cerebral and more poise because of the crown.

"But what people don't know is that I am very comic in real life too. Doing comedies just gives me an excuse to be who I am. And if people think it's great acting, it works for me," she said.

"Do Knot Disturb" is also Lara's third film with Govinda after "Bhagam Bhaag" and "Partner".

"I am very lucky to have got this film because if at all I consider myself to be a comic actress, then working with Govinda at least once is necessary. But I have had the opportunity to work with him for the third time and our fourth film ('Banda Yeh Bindaas hai') is also ready," she said.

"He is a fantastic actor and I got an opportunity to grow as a comic actor with him. He is one of those actors who can make people cry with his laughter and at the same time make them laugh with his crying," she added.

With other future projects like "Blue", "Housefull" and "Tom & Jerry" in her kitty, Lara is on a high with the way her career is shaping up.

"I am very happy. It's a good time and good place where I am right now," she said.

When you have two sexy former beauty queens in one film, you must be really naïve if you expect them to get along.



When two model turned actresses (Bipasha and Mugdha in All the Best) and two actresses (Udita and Sagarika, Bipasha and Kareena) don’t get along, there is no chance that two smart, well-spoken former beauty queens will. We are talking about Lara and Sushmita in David Dhawan’s Do Knot Disturb. They have stopped talking to each other altogether.

A source from the sets told us, “Sushmita and Lara are beautiful and smart. Two intelligent actresses cannot get along. Sushmita feels Lara has been given a more prominent role. She feels it is unfair because she was asked to gain and lose weight for the role for which she earned a lot of flak. And she needs a hit more desperately than Lara. She hardly has any films except the much delayed Dulha Mil Gaya. Lara had Billu and Do Knot Disturb and the highly anticipated Blue are her next films. She also has Housefull. Sush feels shortchanged.”

Meanwhile Lara has also find reasons to complain. Earlier she wasn’t too pleased with Katrina’s presence in Blue. Our source tells us, “Lara feels Sush has been given more prominence in the posters and promotion of the film. This is hardly true because so far, Bebo is the only song from the movie that is doing well and it features Riteish and her. The posters are group ones and individual ones. It isn’t that Sush is going all to promote her film. Lara is busy with Blue and she is also shooting for Housefull.”

He added that everyone is trying to help them become friends again. It’s not that they are pulling each other’s hair out as both ladies are too polished to do that. They just don’t share warm vibes and maintain safe distance from each other.

Sushmita was unavailable for comment while Lara said nothing like this happened. Produces Vashu Bhagnani did not wish to comment.
