"No other beauty like Aishwarya"

    Rajnikant can't stop praising Aishwarya Rai after working with her on the Tamil film 'Endhiran', touted to be one of India's most expensive film projects.

    According to a source present at the music launch of the film in Kuala Lumpur, Rajnikant said: "There is no other beauty in our generation like Aishwarya Rai. She is a born artiste."

    Rajnikant, who also admires Aishwarya's father-in-law, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, added jokingly: "Amitabh is looking at me from there and warning me not to praise her too much," the source informed.

    Though Amitabh was not present at the music launch, Rajnikant made his presence felt with his words.

    Among those who attended the event were music director A R Rahman, director S Shankar and few other technicians, apart from Aishwarya and Rajnikant with his two daughters.

    Aishwarya wore an outfit by Manish Malhotra, who has even designed her outfits in the action-packed sci-fi film, which was earlier titled 'Robot'.

    The actress started her speech with a personal touch by greeting the 3,000-plus crowd in their native language.

    The source said: "The crowd just went berserk... and was shouting 'We love you'." Aishwarya signed off by saying "see you" in their native language.

    The film is set for a Sep 3 release.

Ash steals hearts!

    Rajinikanth has a huge fan following in Malaysia and so it was quite a treat for his fans to see their superstar make an appearance in Kuala Lumpur for the music launch of his new film, along with AR Rahman, director S Shankar, lyricist Vairamuthu and producer Kalanidhi Maran.

    But while Rajinikanth made the kind of impact that only he can, it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan — looking her gorgeous self in a Manish Malhotra outfit — who proved to be quite a heart-stealer! An instant hit with the crowds, she even greeted the 3,000 plus crowd in their native language. According to a source, the flow of the event was to be such that Ash would make her appearance first on stage along with the cast of the film. “However, Ash surprised them all as she insisted that since it’s a music event, the focus should be on the director, music director, the lyricist and they should therefore be going on stage before her and speak about the music. They all obliged and later when Ash finally took the stage, the crowds went crazy as they chanted her name,” says the source.

    The film recently had a music launch in Malaysia and the promos have already created huge buzz about the special effects and stunts.

    One of the highlights of this film is that Rajinikanth would be seen without his famed moustache in most parts thereby making him look much younger.

    The last time director Shankar and actor Rajinikanth came together they had a huge hit with Sivaji -- The Boss.

    Enthiran
    One of the most eagerly awaited films of this year is the Rajinikanth - Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran - The Robot. The film, a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), is directed by one of the hottest directors down South- Shankar.

    Enthiran - The Robot is touted as one of the most expensive films with a heavy dose of special effects. No wonder then that the film has been in the making for quite some time now. However, there is good news for fans who have been eagerly awaiting this film. The music of the film composed by none other than Oscar winner A. R. Rahman is all set to release on 31 July. In fact a grand music release function has been planned in Malaysia where the entire cast and crew is expected.

    One of the highlights of this film is that Rajinikanth would be seen without his famed moustache in most parts thereby making him look much younger. The last time director Shankar and actor Rajinikanth came together they created magic with Sivaji-The Boss. Hope that Enthiran - The Robot manages to live up to its hype and breaks all Box Office records when it releases later this year.

Ash & Kate bond in Rome

    Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Academy award winning actress Kate Winslet made a stunning sight as they shot an advertisement together in Rome.

    The two beauties, both dressed in little black dresses, filmed a commercial for the Swiss watch brand Longines in the city, reported Daily Mail.

    The former Miss World, 36 has been the spokesmodel for the brand for the past four years while the 'Titanic' beauty is the latest name to endorse the high-end chronologists.

    They were joined by Taiwanese model and actress Lin Chi-ling, in the advertisement.

    Kate and Aishwarya ran in their heels into a black car during filming, while Lin Chi-ling jetted off in a vintage red Alfa Romeo.

    Aishwarya is a well known face in the West thanks to the Hollywood multi-starrer 'Pink Panther 2' where she worked alongside big names like Steve Martin and Andy Garcia, and her yearly appearances at the Cannes red carpet.

    The two actresses had met earlier but at that time it was just a formal and very short meeting. This time the shooting will continue for two days and the actresses will have more time to get to know each other.

Ash-Abhi ready for a vacation

    Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are always trying to spend time together, despite their busy schedules. Earlier this year Ash accompanied Abhishek when he was shooting for 'Game' in Greece, and they got to spend time together promoting 'Raavan' too. But Abhishek still complained that he didn't get enough time with his wife. Now, to make up for that, it seems that Ash has planned a holiday in London while Abh is shooting there for 'Dostana 2'.

    Apparently, Ash wants to get a lot of quality time with Abhi in the city before they both get busy with work again. Aishwarya has a couple of big releases coming up this year, including Vipul Shah's 'Action Replayy' and the Tamil movie 'Endhiran', and Abhishek will be busy shooting other schedules of 'Dostana 2'

Aishwarya, Akshay in Manali for Action Replay

    Fans of Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan thronged the airport in Manali to get a glimpse of the beauty who is here to shoot for her upcoming film Action Replayy.

    Accompanied by her mother, Aishwarya drove straight to the hotel Holiday Inn, where she would stay for a week while shooting the film.

    While Akshay Kumar, who is paired opposite the former Miss World will arrive later, her other co-stars Rajpal Yadav and Neha Dhupia flew in yesterday.

    Action Replayy is a big budget period drama where both Aishwarya and Akshay sport retro looks from the 70's and 80's.

    Vipul Shah, the director of the movie had to cancel the shooting of film in Manali in June earlier due to the untimely snowfall in the hill town.

    According to sources, Aishwarya and Akshay will shoot a retro-themed song and will stay for another four-five days.

    Meanwhile, the entire unit remained busy in shooting indoors at hotel Holiday Inn and will go for outdoor shooting at Dobhi, 14 km from Wednesday (July 14).

Ash gets Rajini’s blessings

    Aishwarya Rai Bachchan not just took Superstar Rajinkanth, but the entire ‘Endhiran’ unit by surprise, when she touched the top actor’s feet to seek his blessings during the last day of the shooting of the film last week.

    According to reports, the former Miss World found it hard to leave the place (Sun Studios on the outskirts of Chennai), as she became very close to each and every member of the cast and crew of the movie which was shot for almost two years.

    “After the last shot was filmed, Aishwarya touched the Superstar’s feet seeking his blessing. Rajini, who didn’t expect this, was shocked initially but soon composed himself and blessed her,” reports said.

    Now that the shooting has been completed, Sun Pictures, the producers of this multicrore extravaganza, is getting ready for the release of the film. The initial focus is on the audio launch which is slated to happen at the end of this month in Malaysia.

Is Aishwarya being mocked in 'Lamhaa'?

    A dialogue mentioning Aishwarya Rai in the promos of upcoming film 'Lamhaa' has caught the attention of many. But producer Bunty Walia and director Rahul Dholakia clarify that it does not mock her.

    Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who plays a Kashmiri separatist leader in the film, says in one scene: "When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon, it makes news. But why doesn't the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven’t seen their husbands for years?"

    This dialogue has raised eyebrows. But Dholakia says: "The dialogue in the film by the separatist leaders uses Mrs. Rai Bachchan as a metaphor to the Bollywood centric media who prefer covering the personal lives of icons instead of covering the real life poignant stories of Kashmiri half-widows. The comment is not a slur or an attack on the actress in anyway," Dholakia said.

    "The purpose of the scene was never intended to mock Aishwarya Rai. We would never do anything to hurt anyone's sentiments," said Bunty Walia.

    Produced by GS Entertainment and distributed by PVR Pictures, 'Lamhaa' is set in Kashmir and stars Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Kunal Kapoor and Anupam Kher. The movie, releasing on July 16, deals with the life of Kashmiris in the valley.

Ash may be late!

    Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s much-awaited Endhiran (Tamil) and The Robot (Hindi) are generating hype and excitement.

    And, a lot of this is to do with the fact that Ash is teaming up with namma superstar Rajinikanth for the first time. Strong rumours say that steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal is picking up a stake in the overseas rights of the film. But distributors are not sure when the film is going to hit the screens. Earlier, it was meant to be a Diwali release. However, now it is being said that since Oscar-winner AR Rahman is yet to finish work on the background score, the film could be delayed further.

    But come what may, the film is going to be nothing short of a visual treat for the audience, with Rajinikanth and Aishwarya in action, Shankar handling the megaphone and AR Rahman scoring the music.

Vishal gets Ash to say, I do. Finally

    Raavan may have tanked, but that hasn't stopped the biggest directors in Bollywood from chasing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The latest to woo is her is Vishal Bhardwaj, for a woman-centric project that is expected to take off in 2011. Ash has even set aside her dates for the project, sources tell us.

    Says a source close to Aishwarya, "Vishal and Aishwarya have a history of misses. "Years ago, she was supposed to do his first directorial venture, Timbucktoo. This year too, she was approached for Saat Khoon Maaf, but she didn't have the dates and the film eventually went to Priyanka Chopra."

    The source adds that Bharadwaj was hurt by Ash's constant refusals, but the actress would repeatedly tell friends that she would love to work with him, dates permitting.

    "Aishwarya had liked the script for Saat Khoon Maaf. But 2010 has been an especially busy year for her, what with five films releasing. Vishal couldn't wait, and he went to Priyanka Chopra. It happens. Even Prakash Jha's Raajneeti was first offered to Priyanka Chopra.

    When she couldn't do it, Katrina got it."

    Now at a juncture in her career where she craves unconventional roles, the actress is finally set to work with the director on the project, a contemporary romantic subject with an unusual climax.

    Confirming this, Rai-Bachchan said, "Yes, Vishal and I have been meaning to work together for quite some time.

    Things are working out now. He feels I've been saying no far too often, but it wasn't my fault. Things finally are falling into place."

"Ash is very supportive, loves me the way I am"

    Abhishek says that's the reason he hasn't changed after marriage

    When spotted together it is evident that they are very much in love - and Abhishek Bachchan has no qualms in saying that his wife and actress Aishwarya Rai is very supportive and encouraging.

    "Aishwarya is very supportive and encouraging. She is a very chilled out person and doesn't take things to heart," Abhishek said.

    "People ask me if I changed after marriage. But I just say 'Why should I change?' Aishwarya loves me the way I am and married me for the way I am. Then why should I change at all?" he added.

    Abhishek and Aishwarya announced their engagement Jan 14, 2007 and the couple tied the knot April 20 that year. The wedding took place in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha in Juhu, Mumbai, but made headlines everywhere.

    It was rumoured that Aishwarya would leave her acting career after marriage, owing to the popular belief that married actresses don't do well in the industry.

    But the 36-year-old actress squashed all rumours and continued to be a part of the film industry.

    Even her husband Abhishek, 34, feels proud that his wife was able to break the age-old notion. "I feel great about Aishwarya's achievements, I'm very proud of her. Whatever adulation she has got, she truly deserves it," he said.

    "I'm happy that she broke the notion that women can't work after marriage. Why are we so regressive in our thinking? If she wants to work, her audience wants to see her, what is people's problem? I as a husband am very happy that she is doing so well. I think she is doing better work now," Abhishek said.

    The couple has done many films together before and after their marriage. These include 'Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke', 'Kuch Naa Kaho', 'Umrao Jaan', 'Dhoom 2', 'Guru' and the recently released 'Raavan'.
